Class 7 English Grammar Book

Learning the terms of English grammar in Class 7 holds significant importance for several reasons. It lays the groundwork for effective communication. Understanding grammar terms such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and conjunctions helps students construct clear and coherent sentences. This foundational knowledge is essential for expressing thoughts, ideas, and emotions accurately, both in spoken and written communication. Without a grasp of these terms, students may struggle to convey their thoughts effectively, leading to misunderstandings and hindered communication skills.

The Sentences

A clause is a sentence which is the part of a larger sentence. A declarative statement always ends in full stop (.). The special verbs in English are: is, am, are, was, were, has, have, had, do, does, did, shall, will, should, would, can, could, may, might, must etc. An Interrogative sentence always ends in a question mark (?).

Learning grammar terms in Class 7 contributes to academic success. As students progress in their education, their coursework becomes more complex, and written assignments become a common part of assessments. Proper grammar is crucial for writing essays, reports, and research papers. It not only enhances the quality of their writing but also reflects positively on their academic performance. By understanding terms like subject-verb agreement, tense, and sentence structure, students can produce well-structured and grammatically correct pieces of writing, which are highly valued in educational settings.

We cannot put a, an or a number before uncountable nouns. Names of instruments that have two parts are written in plural: scissors, tweezers. Names of some games are in plural: droughts, billiards.

A solid grasp of grammar terms is essential for professional and career development. In the future, students will enter the workforce where effective communication is paramount. Job applications, interviews, and workplace interactions all require proficient communication skills.

A strong foundation in grammar provides a competitive edge, as it ensures clarity and professionalism in written communication, which is often a reflection of one’s competence and attention to detail. Overall, learning grammar terms in Class 7 not only benefits students in their immediate academic pursuits but also sets them on a path to success in their future careers and personal lives.

Class 7 English Grammar Chapters

The Noun: Number

Only countable nouns have plural forms. Singular countable nouns can be made plural usually by adding the suffix. When nouns are not preceded by numerals, we can use their plural forms. For example: I have several pairs of shoes.

The Noun: Gender

Collective nouns such as army, people, nation, flock, class and group are used to signify the collection or group of living things, they are classified as neuter gender.

Teaching English grammar to Class 7 students can be made engaging and easy to understand by using simple and relatable methods. One effective way to teach grammar is through storytelling. Choose a short, interesting story or create one, and then identify and discuss different grammar elements within the story. For example, you can point out nouns by highlighting the characters’ names or verbs by discussing the actions they take. This helps students relate grammar to real-life situations and makes learning more enjoyable.

The Pronoun

There are three important cases of Personal Pronoun. They show the relation of pronouns to other words in the sentence. My, our, your, her, his, its and their are Possessive Determiners. They are not used alone. Always a noun follows them.

Turn grammar lessons into fun games and activities. For instance, you can play Grammar Bingo, where students have bingo cards with various grammar terms like nouns, verbs, adjectives, and they mark them off as you discuss them in the lesson. Or use flashcards with sentences on them, and students can take turns identifying the subject and predicate or finding the correct verb tense. These interactive activities make grammar learning interactive and memorable.

The Determiner

Some vowels have a consonant sound. We use the article with noun (or adjective) that begin with these words. Some words begin with an h that we do not hear when we say the word. We use an with nouns (or Adjectives) that begin with a silent h.

The Adjective

We often use than when we compare two things or people. When we use the superlative form, we often use the before it.

Visual aids like diagrams, charts, and posters can be very helpful for visual learners. Create colourful posters illustrating different parts of speech, and use mnemonic devices or acronyms like FANBOYS (for coordinating conjunctions) to help students remember concepts easily. Associating a visual element or a catchy phrase with grammar rules can make them stick in the students’ minds.

  • The age profile of a country’s population — does it have more young people than old people, or vice versa? What are the consequences of this?
  • How can we tell how old a tree, a horse, or a rock is?
  • What is the ‘life expectancy’ of various living things, and various populations (how long can they reasonably expect to live)?

Ans: The process of ageing starts as soon as the birth of a living being takes place. As we grow old, we see changes coming in us. Our country is the second most populous nation. India has a greater number of young people than old. This allows enhanced production as well as enrich earning capacity. This also increases the chance of a population boom around the corner.

We can count the age of a tree using rings in its stem. A horse’s age is generally found from its teeth. A rock’s age can be found using the carbon dating process.

The timeline from birth to death is the life span of an organism. The life expectancy varies from one organism to another. A mayfly lives only a day while a giant Olive Riddle tortoise may live for a few hundred years. Humans have an average life expectancy of 70-80 years.

In fact, this story has been taken from the novel written by him “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”. This story starts with Mr. Willy Wonk, he is an inventor and when Mr. Willy Wonk invented Wonka Vita, which makes people younger. However, everything has a side-effect so Wonka Vite is so strong that it can even make people disappear because their age becomes negative. As a result of this invention, a person actually becomes minus 87, which means he has to wait for another 87 years before he can come back to life.

After this incident, to counter the effects of Wonka Vita, Mr. Willy Wonk decided to invent a drink that would make people grow older, so he travelled around the world in the great glass elevator to look for the oldest living things in the world. Firstly, he collected sap from the 4,000-year-old Bristlecone pine tree, then he took a toenail clipping from a 168-year-old Russian farmer. Then he collected the edd of a 200-year-old daughter and a tale of a 51-year-old horse. Then he took the whiskers of a 36-year-old cat and he also took a flea that lived on the cat, he took a tail of a giant 270-year-old rat and the black teeth of over 97-year-old Grimalkin, knucklebones of a 700-year-old cat Alou. After collecting all these he mixed them all and boiled them, which turned like a black liquid and he tested it on a 20-year-old person, then the person became a 75-year-old person, this means Mr. Wonka successfully invented a drink to make people grow old instantly.

So this was the explanation of NCERT Class 7 English Chapter 7 - The Invention of Vita Wonk. All the chapters of Honeycomb’s explanation with well-defined solutions are available on Vedantu.

In reality, this narrative is based on his work "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator." This narrative begins with Mr. Willy Wonk, an inventor who produced Wonka Vita, a substance that makes people younger. However, everything has a bad side effect. Wonka Vite is so powerful that it can make individuals vanish by turning their age into a negative number. As a result of this creation, a person's age is reduced to minus 87, implying that he must wait another 87 years to resurrect.

4. To counter the effects of Wonka Vita, what did Mr. Willy Wonk decided, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

Following this incident, Mr. Willy Wonk wanted to create a drink that would make people grow older to counteract the effects of Wonka Vita, so he traveled across the world in the great glass elevator in search of the world's oldest living beings. He got a toenail cut from a 168-year-old Russian farmer and gathered sap from a 4,000-year-old Bristlecone pine tree. Then he gathered a 200-year-old daughter's egg and a story about a 51-year-old horse.

5. How did Mr. Wonka invented a drink to make people grow old instantly, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

He took the whiskers of a 36-year-old cat, as well as a flea that resided on the cat, a 270-year-old rat's tail, Grimalkin's black teeth, and the knucklebones of a 700-year-old cat named Alou. After collecting all of these, he blended them and cooked them, resulting in a dark liquid, which he tested on a 20-year-old individual, who then became a 75-year-old person, indicating that Mr. Wonka had succeeded in inventing a drink to make people grow older.

6. What happens to the volunteer who swallows four drops of the new invention? What is the name of the invention, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

The volunteer begins wrinkling and shriveling up all over as soon as he swallows four drops of the new creation. His teeth begin to fall out, and his hair begins to fall out as well. The volunteer becomes a seventy-five-year-old man before Mr. Wonka realizes it. Vita-Wonk was the product's name. Refer to NCERT Solutions for Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb free of cost available on the Vedantu website and the Vedantu app. It has all the questions which are solved by experienced teachers.

7. The age profile of a country’s population-does it have more young people than old people or vice versa? What are the consequences of this, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

Browning's sentences above demonstrate the beauty of age. For those who have lived the previous parts of life properly, this is the best period of life. The majority of the population in our country, India, is young. The main advantage is that these people can work hard for the country's advancement. We now have scientific procedures for determining the age of a person, a plant, or a rock. The life expectancy of various living creatures varies. In general, tiny organisms such as worms and insects have a limited lifespan. The life expectancy of most animals is lower than that of most humans. Some snakes and sea animals, on the other hand, have lived for a very long time. Elephants, like humans, live a long time.
