So I can't use "The information is available for you" alone? Do I need to add an infinitive afterwards?

I don't have a rule, but to my ear, "the information is available for you" would only be right by itself if there were an omitted but understood infinitive still to come. For example, "Mr. Smith, the information is available for you [to download] [to pick up] [to retrieve]." I can't think of a case that sounds right in which there is not an implied infinitive afterwards.

Hello. According to the dictionary, available can be followed by to and for . The sentences you offer for discussion seem, to my ear at least, to yield slightly different meanings: - The information is available for you. this one seems light and incomplete, as if something were left hanging in the air. It might be implying that the information is available to me and only me. - The information is available to you. this one seems complete and unambiguous. it means the the info. is at my disposal.

    3. Further looking for the difference found out some fact that actually make sense as well like: Used available for when some time constraint applies on the use or access of the object. Example: Mr. John is available for next 37 minutes. Also used available for when availability is being expressed for some verb.

  2. available for/to you
