General FAQ

Q: how does homework help work.

Homework Help is a fully online tutoring service. You can get a tutor 24/7 in more than 40 subjects including Math, Science, Social Studies, English, AP ® Support, Foreign Languages and Business. Tutoring sessions take place in our easy-to-use online classroom, which runs in your web browser.

Q: What can I get help with?

Our tutors can assist with studying and homework help in more than 40 subjects in Math , English , Science and Social Studies . Take a look at a complete list of the subjects covered by our team of expert tutors.

Q: How do I get a tutor?

You need an active account to connect to a tutor. If you don’t have an account, click here to get started now. If you already have an account, just sign in and start a session any time you need help - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Q: Will my tutor just give me the answers?

The Princeton Review's philosophy is to help students understand the concepts behind what they are working on, so that our students can learn how to solve the problem and reach the answer on their own. The Princeton Review is not an answer-giving service.

Q: Can I work with the same tutor again?

Yes. You can add tutors to your Favorites list to see when they are available to have another session. If one of your favorite tutors is working with another student, you can get in line or let us find another great tutor to help you.

To add a tutor to your Favorites list, just click Yes under "Add this tutor to your Favorite Tutor list" after completing your session. You can see all your favorites by clicking "Manage your Favorites list" on your Account page.

Q: Can I review my previous sessions?

Yes. Just click "View your previous sessions" on your account page to review transcripts of your previous sessions or replay them in real time.

Q: What if my tutor can't help me?

If your tutor doesn’t know how to help with your specific question, he or she will be happy to transfer you to another tutor right away (and you won't lose any minutes while you wait). If you ever have a session you're not completely happy with, you can request a credit for the minutes used. We will review the session, and if it doesn't meet our standards for quality or accuracy, we can credit those minutes back to your account!

Q: Can I schedule a session with a tutor?

Students can either request an on-demand session with any available tutor, or schedule an appointment with a specific tutor. To find a tutor and set up an appointment (at least 48 hours in advance), sign in to your account and select “Schedule a Session”.

Q: How do I contact Customer Support?

Send us an email or call us at (800) 411-1970 and choose Option 1. We're available Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Thursday and Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (all times Eastern)

Pricing & Billing FAQ

Q: how much does it cost to connect with a tutor.

The Princeton Review offers several flexible plans to fit your study style and need for tutoring from month to month. Full details are available on our Pricing page.

Q: Do I have to use my entire hour in a session?

No. The average session is about 20-25 minutes long, but you can work with a tutor for as long as you need — whether it's for five minutes or an hour.

Q: Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

Not at all! The Princeton Review offers monthly subscriptions, meaning we will charge your credit card each month. You can cancel your account at any time. If you do cancel, we will not charge your card again.

Q: Can I change my plan whenever I want?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan whenever you want—just click "View or change your plan" on your Account page. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades take effect on your next monthly billing cycle.

Q: Can I cancel my plan at any time?

Yes, you can cancel at any time. If you choose to cancel, you'll be able to finish your current month, and we will not charge your card again.

Q: Can I just put my plan on Hold?

You may want to temporarily put your billing plan on Hold instead of canceling. Just click "View or change your plan" on your Account page, then choose "Put your Monthly Plan on Hold." You can select a new billing date up to three months from today, and you can continue to use academic tutoring for as long as you have minutes on your account.

Q: Which forms of payment are accepted?

A credit card is required to open a subscription with the Princeton Review. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. You must have a U.S. or Canadian billing address when purchasing a plan.

Q: What happens to my unused minutes from month to month?

For those who have purchased a subscription service, tutoring sessions should be used during each month of your subscription.

Any unused subscription hours in your account will not roll over from one month to the next. However, if you purchase additional minutes in a given month, these will roll over to the month following purchase only. If you cancel your plan, you can use your minutes until your current billing month ends.

Q: How do I communicate with my tutor?

The Classroom features a chat interface and an interactive Whiteboard, both of which can be used by both tutor and student to communicate. You also have the option of communicating via our Voice feature within the session.

Q: How do I draw on the Whiteboard?

Select one of the drawing tools at the bottom of the Whiteboard. You can draw lines, circles, rectangles, polygons or freehand. You can also type, fill, erase or use the laser pointer to show something to your tutor. Try our online demo classroom

Q: Can I erase things from the Whiteboard?

Yes. You can undo your last action, cut the object from the Whiteboard with the Scissor tool, or erase it with the Eraser tool.

Q: How do I look through previous Whiteboards and add new ones?

To see your Whiteboards, click the arrows in the bottom right corner of the interface. To add a new blank Whiteboard, click the "Add Whiteboard" button at the top of the Classroom.

Q: Can I work on lined or graph paper on the Whiteboard?

Yes. Just click the Graph Paper icon to the right of the Text tool to choose a new overlay for the Whiteboard.

Q: How do I share a file or document with my tutor?

Click the "Share File" button at the top of the Classroom and select the document you want to share from your computer. We accept the following file types: .DOC, .DOCX, .PDF, .PPT, .TXT, .XLS

Q: Can I add formulas, equations, or 3D shapes to the Whiteboard?

A vast library of Whiteboard objects are available to click and drag to the Whiteboard. Just click the Objects button to bring up the menu.

Q: Can I change the look of my Avatar?

Yes! Click the "Customize" button at the top of the Classroom to select from a wide array of avatar images.

Q: Am I able to print a transcript of my session?

You can print the transcript of your session any time by clicking the Print button at the top of the Classroom. You can also review and print the session later by going to your Account page and viewing your previous sessions.

Q: How can I use audio to communicate with my tutor?

You can use voice over IP (VOIP) or your telephone to speak to your tutor during the session. If using VOIP, you must have Adobe Flash installed for your browser and you must give it permission to use your microphone. To start audio, click the "Turn On Audio" button at the top of the chat box and follow the directions for your preferred method of communication.
