I. How to choose the best student planner app for your needs

Here are 4 key factors to consider:

1. Free Version. Money matters, especially for us students. Look for free planner apps with generous feature offerings.

2. User-Friendly Interface. A good student planner app should help you get stuff done, not get lost in itself. Look for apps with clear navigation menus and well-designed icons.

3. Feature Set. Think about what’s essential for your study style, and check if the app has what you need – calendars, to-do lists, collaboration, compatibility with other productivity apps! And hey, the ability to personalize it with categories and labels is a plus.

4. Cross-Platform Compatibility . Make sure your app plays well with the devices you’re frequently using.

We noticed most students are glued to their mobile devices these days, so most planner apps we recommend below are available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Homework Planner Apps for Students

1. student planner- homework agenda & notes.

The first app on the list is a simple homework and notes management app. It keeps track of homework, assignments, projects, and to-do lists. The layout is minimal, all the tasks are neatly organized with a colored bookmark for easy identification. You can mark a task complete and remove it from the pending list.

Courses can be added easily and color-coded as well. The calendar shows any upcoming deadlines so you can prioritize accordingly. The tasks have a progress bar that you can adjust as you make progress which enables you to get a quick summary without actually opening every task.

You can also break your assignments in small chunks as subtasks that would make finishing a task much easier and the progress bar will fill automatically. It also allows you to attach media files to your assignments or projects for easy access to the important information in one place.

homework planner apps- agenda

  • Progress bar
  • Deadline Reminders
  • Calendar View
  • No option to sync data to the cloud

Student Planner is a great app for all the students, it has all the necessary features like Deadline reminders, subtasks, progress bar, color-coded tasks, and courses. It can significantly increase your productivity when used regularly. You can get this app for free in the Play Store.

Install Student Planner- Homework Agenda ( Android )

2. Student Planner

Student Planner is another fast and simple homework management app which is wrapped by a beautiful and intuitive material designed UI. What Student Planner adds to the table is the inclusion of a schedule or time table which you can use to either store your class schedule or it might even be a study schedule for your exams.

You first start by adding your subject and the schedule then you can add an assignment or set a reminder. The due assignments are arranged as separate cards and can be swiped away once done with.

homework planner apps- Student Planner Android

  •  Simple and easy to get started with
  •  Fast and small in size
  •  Beautiful Minimal UI
  •  Option for Schedule
  • No sync/backup
  • Timetable implementation not perfect

I would recommend this app to anyone who is looking for a simple homework management app with timetable support and a minimal UI.

Install Student Planner ( Android )

Egenda is simple. Open the app, add all the classes or subjects to the app, and once that is set up, you have the option of adding a new Homework, Quiz, Project, or Test and choose the respective subject deadlines. The app also arranges the due work in cards that can be swiped away when done. But what I love the most about this app is that the fact it allows you to go subject-wise and view all your upcoming tests, projects, or pending assignments which is a huge convenience for planning your schedule ahead of time instead of the previous day.

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t have a timetable option, but in its latest update, it added a  Calendar View  where you can see your whole month at a glance with your assignments, tests, and projects.

homework planner apps- Egenda Android

  •  Subject-wise sorting
  •  Calendar View
  • No timetable support

Egenda provides some great tools for Homework and Test planning and I am sure anyone would find them extremely convenient and useful. But keeping its single con in mind, go for this app if you are not too keen on having a schedule or timetable.

Install  Egenda  ( Android  |  iOS )

4. ChalkBoard

The next app on our list is ChalkBoard, which I found out to be a pretty smart homework planner app. Chalkboard strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and features.

Although the setup process is a little longer than the previous three apps, as you have to feed meticulous details about the classes, teacher, and schedule. It is worth the effort.

On the home screen, you are shown upcoming classes, events tab, and upcoming tests. ChalkBoard fetches the dates for every subject from the Timetable for your future classes. Little features like these make the app stand out from the rest and give an overall great experience. You can also view classes and assignments subject wise.

homework planner apps- ChalkBoard Android

  • Proper Timetable
  • Ability to add teachers for subjects
  • View tomorrow’s classes as well as assignments/tests/quizzes
  • Smart features
  • Little longer to set up
  • No calendar view

If you are looking for a homework planner as well as a school planner, Chalkboard is the app as it strikes a great ground with almost all the features one might need while not being too bulky.

Install ChalkBoard ( Android )

5. School Planner

School Planner is a full-fledged planning application designed for students to manage their career as a student. Along with your homework and timetables, School Planner offers you to keep track of your grades and attendance, add contacts for teachers, add recorded lectures, and even multiple planners.

The app supports backing up of all your data via Google Drive, Calendar View along with a weekly report, attaching snapshots to your assignment reminders, student accounts from ClassViva, and a lot more. In spite of so many features, the app doesn’t feel slow at all and delivers a powerful performance with its beautiful design.

homework planner apps- School Planner Android

  • Full-fledged student companion
  • Feature-packed and free
  • Supports sync and backup
  • Widget Support
  • Tedious setup procedure
  • Big in size
  • Complex, not so smooth learning curve

While it is not for someone who is looking for a fast and easy way into homework management, School Planner is a great student companion app and serious students will surely get the most out of hit.

With over thirty languages to choose, your child can practice German, Italian, Spanish, French, or dozens of other languages. If your student is currently enrolled in ESL courses, they can strengthen their English skills from the bottom-up.

Unlike other language learning solutions that focus on memorizing vocabulary, Duolingo uses a combination of reading, writing, and speaking exercises to create a more natural learning experience.

It's great for helping math students who fall behind.

The built-in calculator allows for smart, on-the-fly calculations and 2D graph plotting.

It's somewhat limited depth. Wrong answers don't provide much room for learning why an answer is incorrect.

Mathematics can be one of the most challenging courses for students, with complicated steps that are quickly forgotten after a long school day. Especially challenging is that many parents struggle to help their children with subject matter that they haven't been acquainted with for years. Photomath is an excellent solution for struggling mathematicians.

Children can scan complex or simple math problems, learning how to solve them with step-by-step instructions. A built-in calculator improves the experience, allowing for smart, on-the-fly calculations and 2D graph plotting abilities. Linear equations, logarithms, trigonometry, functions, and basic algebraic expressions are only a few of Photomath's vast capabilities.

Great music learning app with tools for learning and practicing guitar, bass, piano, and more.

Voice-overs and instructional design lack the human touch that helps when learning an instrument.

One school subject that is sadly overlooked is music. Music is an area of study that has been proven to increase a child's language and reasoning skills, fine-tune their motor skills, and decrease stress levels. So, if your child is trying to learn a musical instrument and struggling, consider investing in Yousician. This app allows students to practice guitar, bass, piano, or ukulele.

Students can practice their instruments along with the charts and diagrams that display on the screen. They'll receive real-time feedback when they miss a note or fall out of tune. Included step-by-step video tutorials are available to show your child how to be proficient in a specific skill set. Practicing an instrument has never seemed so natural. With different genres of music available, your child can quickly sort out their favorites.

Additionally, you can download content for offline study so that you have access to it no matter where you are. Khan Academy offers solutions for all ages and skill ranges.

Quizlet Flashcards

A digital flashcard mobile platform that's suitable for all ages.

The focus on memorization is ideal for studying.

The ad-supported platform may be distracting.

User-generated content means some content may be inaccurate.

Do you remember studying for exams and creating piles of flashcards to memorize facts and details? While flashcards can be an excellent method for analyzing new material, they use a large amount of paper that is eventually thrown in the trash. Learn new topics while also saving trees with the Quizlet Flashcards application. Study from existing flashcard sets or create your own.

Quizlet digital flashcards allow students of all ages to practice and excel at various topics using their smartphones. In addition to basic flashcards, Quizlet offers multiple modes to encourage different methods of memorization. If your child attends the same class as another student using Quizlet, the two can share flashcards. Those who use the app to study foreign languages can hear keywords spoken to them in over 18 languages.

PowerSchool

Allows parents and guardians to keep tabs on their child's education.

Access classroom handouts, attendance records, school bulletins, and more.

The complicated interface makes for a rather steep learning curve.

Here's an app that both children and parents can enjoy: PowerSchool Mobile. Many school districts use the PowerSchool system to manage grades and reports. If your child's school is a participant, you can use the mobile app to keep a close eye on your child's educational progress. Depending on how a teacher chooses to use the tool in their classroom, you may also have access to handouts, attendance records, school bulletins, and more.

While not every school offers support for the PowerSchool Mobile application, it is worth checking with your child's teacher to see if the option is available. Sorry kids, but it isn't possible to hide report cards with the PowerSchool app. Parents can manage what push and email notifications they receive from the child's school. You'll become more involved and aware of your child's school performance with this simple mobile app.

From agendas designed to optimize your academic life to options that keep track of busy school and extracurricular schedules, these planners will help start the school year off right.

Planner 2023-2024

Planner 2023-2024

This student planner combines old-school sophistication with modern convenience. The cover design is classically minimal, with an elastic-band closure and pen holder at the spine to keep everything neatly together.

The interior page layout is similarly straightforward, offering weekly and monthly page views with plenty of lined and blank space to write, cross out, and rewrite. The design is unobtrusive, allowing for students to mold it to fit their needs. It's easy to follow with enough direction to keep students on-task, and it's durable enough that if it gets thrown around — which it definitely will — it won't fall apart partway through the year. Overall, the combination of style, durability, and price makes this student planner our number-one pick.

Dated Bilingual Middle High School Student Planner

Dated Bilingual Middle High School Student Planner

Bilingual English and Spanish planners are wonderful for really any child in the U.S. but especially good for Spanish speakers and Spanish learners. The planner has plenty of guidance as to what to put where and plenty of space in which to do it. It's also a great option for middle school students!

2023-2024 Academic Planner

2023-2024 Academic Planner

At-a-Glance planners are favorites of teachers I spoke with because they aren't distracting, but they're also very guided and have plenty of room. Even if your child decides to use markers in it, the pages don't bleed like some thinner-papered planners. These lay flat, allowing the student to look at everything at a glance.

Student Planner 2023-2024

Student Planner 2023-2024

A big part of why this one will be so popular is because of the design on the outside — celestial images are hot right now. But what's inside is even more important, and you'll find a well-laid out planer with 380 stickers, goal areas, weekly, daily, and monthly spaces ready to be filled out.

2023-2024 Monthly Planner

2023-2024 Monthly Planner

If you need to motivate your student, gifting them a package like this is a wonderful way to do it. It has everything a kid could want for planning, pens, stickers, tabs, and a design that's alluring even for the planner-shy.

Again, it has weekly, daily, and monthly spaces with great paper and lines that aren't too close together.

2023-24 Monthly & Weekly Academic Planner Kit

2023-24 Monthly & Weekly Academic Planner Kit

There's so much to love about this extremely durable zippered planner starting with the fact that it's not just an undated planner — it's an entire planner system.

Useful school supplies like fine-liner pens, sticky notes, tabs, note stickers, and highlighters are all included. That means that you can color-code by program or activity, highlight deadlines, coordinate your needs, and get everything put down exactly when you need to begin because you are the one filling in the date.

The top-rated Panda Planner includes daily, weekly, and monthly pages, all designed with the goal-oriented user in mind. It helps break big goals into smaller tasks and lets users get as granular as they'd like with long-term planning. This means that you can plan their semester by the week, month, or the whole chunk.

The best part is that the cloud-integrated planner is totally reusable, as users can jot down tasks and notes with the smudge-proof pen, scan them with the compatible app, and erase the notes with the included cloth. It'll likely be the only planner-and-notebook combo that you'll ever need.

Complete with stickers, pens, and markers, you'll be able to customize their agenda to your exact taste. Each month starts with a page for you to jot down reminders, like phone calls to make and texts to return.

The weekly and monthly view will keep you on top of your assignments, while the included accessories will make writing down homework due dates a bit more fun.

What to Consider

black line break

Choosing the right planner for the right person is no small task, especially for college students dealing with the beginning of their life as an adult. There's a lot to jot down when you consider work and school schedules that include not only term-long projects but also goals for the future, grade calculations, and important notes about prerequisites and scheduling. Planners are pretty individual things, so check in with your kid about their preferred style. My own 15-year-old son prefers to have a larger planner with more room because he's visually inclined in that way, but my 12-year-old daughter is just the opposite. Her planner is precise, but notebooks are for figuring things out.

A good student planner should have space not only for assignments but also for schedules, notes, and important email addresses and numbers, such as the At a Glance planner . It's also a good idea to give yourself the option of having multiple views of the dates — a month at a glance, a week, and a daily breakdown. It's not 100% necessary, but it is extremely useful. You also want your student planner to be durable, just like the Feela planner system , because planners get pretty beaten up over time. Think about it — they're thrown in backpacks , tossed into desk drawers, and even jammed into lockers, so they need to stand up to some knocking around. Flimsy is fine for something that stays at home but not for an academic planner that needs to travel.

Best student planner app—Screenshot of Calendly's website with a peak into the calendar view

Calendly is a global, omni-channel scheduling app for individuals and teams. Over 10 million people use it, including companies like Google and eBay.

Students can connect Calendly with other apps and calendars, such as Google Calendar and Microsoft 365. It’s particularly helpful for students involved in frequent group projects, as they can use Calendly to toggle invitations and availability in one place.

The free version is more than enough for a college student , but you can really pump up automation with the premium paid version.

While Calendly might be one of the best calendar apps for students, it feels more suitable for professional teams and business owners. The downside — you don’t get as many of the task planning features offered on other apps on our list. Entrepreneurs might need Calendly’s easy collaborative scheduling for clients, but some students wouldn’t need that feature.

  • Features:  Routing forms, workflows, team scheduling, availability preferences
  • Best for: Frequent meetings and group work
  • OS: Desktop, Android, and iOS
  • Basic: Free
  • Essentials: $8/month
  • Professional: $12/month
  • Teams: $16/month

Todoist screenshot showing daily list views for events

There’s something so satisfying about crossing things off a list. The online version of that would be Todoist, a to-do list planning app.

Students can organize their calendar events, projects, and homework in multiple visualizations, like calendar view and Kanban boards. We also love how you can prioritize tasks with highlights.

Todoist isn’t just a place to organize lists.  You can track time for study sessions and view productivity insights to improve your study flows. The app has an impressive 8.9/10 rating on TrustRadius with minimal bad reviews.

The only downside we could think of is that the free version might not be able to manage everything on a student’s plate.

  • Features:  Quick task and subtask adds, recurring tasks, prioritization, notifications, tags, filters
  • Best for: Time tracking and task categories
  • OS: Desktop, Android, iOS
  • Starters: Free
  • Pro: $4/month
  • Business: $6/month

3. myHomework Student Planner App

myHomework app website home page

Don’t be fooled by the basic website. Established in 2009, myHomework Student Planner App has a strong reputation among students and teachers. The app has a 4.5/5-star rating on Apple, with almost 4,000 reviews.

The interface is simple and intuitive , with a calendar view for all your homework and tests that you can filter by teacher or theme. Each task comes with an automatic reminder should you need it, so there’s no need to create separate ones for each task.

Some students lament the app’s lack of integration features with Google Calendar and other apps, though most reviews state the app gets the job done.

Another downside is the free version’s ads, which can get annoying.

  • Features:  Homework widgets, project and task tracking, device syncing
  • Best for: Syncing multiple devices
  • OS: Desktop, Windows, iPad, macOS, Android
  • Premium: $4.99/month

4. Power Planner

Power Planner app views

Power Planner has one of the most visually appealing mobile layouts out of all the apps on our list. The intuitive layout, complementary and customizable colors, and convenient agenda view make it easy to stay on top of all your tasks. We think this is the best planner app for students free of charge — the complimentary version has everything you need.

And if you’re a super planner and predictor? This app has a motivating “what if?” feature that shows you the grades you need to get to reach certain GPAs.  You’ll also enjoy automatic reminders, regular updates, and ultimate organization with Power Planner.

P.S. The app has an impressive 4.6/5 average rating on the Google App Store.

  • Features:  “What if” GPA scenarios, calendar and agenda views, automatic reminders
  • Best for:  Predicting grades
  • Premium: $1.99/month

5. Easy Study

Study insights from Easy Study app

Need help finding the motivation to study? Easy Study is a great way to get in the zone.

All you need to do is add your subjects, plan your study time for each one, and boom — the app creates a tailored, customizable plan for you. The most satisfying part is checking off different tasks for each study session.

The daily statistics are also a serious plus. You can view how much time you dedicated to each subject as a percentage-based circular chart and even add overall goals.

One downside we noticed is the frequent customer complaints about bugs. However, it looks like the company does its due diligence with frequent updates.

  • Features:  Notifications, study history insights, subject categories, goals
  • Best for:  Automatic study plans
  • OS:  Android, iOS
  • Basic : Free
  • Plus Monthly : $2.99
  • Plus Semiannually : $14.99
  • Plus Annually : $26.99

6. Evernote

Evernote home page screenshot

Evernote is a fantastic note-taking app. It’s not as popular for scheduling and calendar management, but hey — a large part of college planning happens within your courses, too.

Evernote helps you plan your notes through efficient templates, to-do lists, web clippings, and more.  Unfortunately, many users complain that the free version leaves much to be desired, with limited devices and a lack of reminders or due dates.

The good news? Students can access either a 50% discount on a one-year Personal subscription plan, including due dates, large storage capabilities, extensive search functions, Google Calendar syncs, and more.

If you’re feeling really fancy and collaborative, splurge on the Teams version (or ask a family member to gift it to you).

We think this is the best student planner app for managing multiple aspects of life — categories like professional and personal goals, vacation planning, and even pets complement your academic plans quite nicely.

  • Features:  Reminders, due dates, integrations, note-taking , web clipping, to-do lists
  • Best for:  Managing notes
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android
  • Evernote Free: $0
  • Evernote Personal: $14.99/month
  • Evernote Professional: $17.99/month
  • Evernote Teams: $24.99/user/month

7. iStudiez Pro

Screenshot of iStudiez Pro home page

iStudiez Pro is a versatile planner app that helps you see homework, exams, assignments, and course schedules in one clear view. Easy, checkable boxes for tasks are categorized by course — the half-picture views let you manage tasks while still seeing your schedule for the day.

Students love the user-friendly interface for most devices, though some complain the iPhone views aren’t as clear as on the iPad.

You can also track grades for every assignment and task , allowing you to easily keep track of your GPA as you go through the semester.

  • Features:  Alarms, syncing, integrations, calendar, grades, bird’s eye schedule views, GPA tracking
  • Best for:  Managing homework tasks
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
  • Premium: $2.99/month for mobile
  • Desktop versions: $9.99/month

Tips for making the most of student planner apps.

There are a few differences between a regular app and the best student planner app for college students — but the most important isn’t the type  of app. It’s how you use it.

Here are some tips to help you maximize organization and efficiency from student planner apps:

1. Plan Out Your Week

Saturday, Sunday, or Monday are all great days to plan your week. Take some time to plug in all of your week’s courses, classes, tasks, projects, and commitments. This should save you the hassle of adding things ad hoc and forgetting important due dates. You might also consider plugging in grades for different assignments if you’re working with an app that tracks your GPA.

2. Sort, Sort, Sort

Most of the apps on our list have categorization, tagging, and sorting features. Take time to categorize every task to search for related items easily.

3. Customize Your Layout and Colors

Who says planning has to be dull? Have fun with your student planner apps by customizing colors, fonts, and layouts.

Are you strictly a calendar-type organizer? Great, leave the app on the calendar view.

Are you more of a visual organizer? Perhaps a Kanban board is more your style!

Being a student isn’t easy, but modern technology offers a helping hand. We’ve given you a comprehensive list of the best student planner apps on the market. This should provide more opportunities for students to embrace remote learning while providing fantastic support for managing school-life balance.

1. Are School Planner Apps Free?

Many student planner apps are free, though they might have premium paid versions with more features. A free student planner app usually has enough features to manage your calendar adequately.

2. What is the Best Student Planner App?

Many students love Power Planner and Todoist, but it’s all subjective. The best student planner app depends on your specific needs and preferences.

You might prefer a super user-friendly, visually appealing app with graph insights on time management. Or, you might be satisfied with a simple calendar view organizing your schedule.

3. Is Google Calendar Good for Students?

Certainly, Google Calendar is a great student planning app due to its widespread familiarity. You’re probably already somewhat versed in Google Calendar if you use Gmail. Moreover, the app is easy to use, allowing you to create new projects or events from your iPhone, Android, or computer with a few easy taps. Google Calendar also gives you push notifications to remind you of approaching deadlines and events.

by Sharon Rowley Leave a Comment

If we want our kids to be organized in school, it is essential that they have a system in place for keeping track of assignments, upcoming tests, and quizzes as well as anything with a deadline. Using the right student planner makes this process simple- and helps your child to juggle their school work and social life without feeling overwhelmed. These are the 10 best planners for students for the 2023-2024 school year!

Top Picks for the Best Planners for Students:

What type of planner will work best for your student, the best planner for elementary school students:, best planner for middle and high school students:, best planners for college students- dated, best planner for college students- undated, the best bullet journal for college students, the best planner app for students, looking for the best family calendars, planners, & to-do lists.

The first thing to take into consideration when purchasing a student planner- is the grade level of student who will be using it. Some planners are designed specifically with elementary school-aged kids in mind, while others are more appropriate for middle school, high school, or college students.

For elementary schoolers, you want a simple planner that gives them a defined place to record assignments for each main subject area.

But when we are shopping for students in middle or high school, or in college, there are three main types of planners that I recommend:

  • Dated planners – The monthly and weekly page layouts are already labeled- and in some planners, you'll find prompts or titled sections to get you to think and reflect on your goals for the coming year.
  • Undated planners – You can pick up one of these planners any time and just get started because all of the monthly and weekly sections are undated. There are still places to write reflections and goals, but they are more open-ended and often appear at the beginning or the end of the planner.
  • Bullet Journals – These are completely unstructured notebooks that allow you to design how you would like to track notes and assignments and organize and plan for the future. Often a bullet journal is just a blank notebook with dotted grids, or sometimes they are lined.

Scroll through the list of my favorite planners of each type below- where I highlight the best features of each one!

Best Websites for High School Students

By Med Kharbach, PhD | Last Update: February 16, 2024

Websites for High School Students

In today’s fast-paced educational landscape, high school students have an unprecedented access to a wealth of knowledge right at their fingertips. Recognizing the immense potential of digital resources to supplement traditional learning, I’ve dedicated myself to meticulously combing through the vast expanse of educational technology websites.

My goal? To curate a selection that offers substantial learning value specifically tailored for high school students. Drawing from my extensive experience in reviewing EdTech tools, I present to you a compilation that not only enhances the academic journey but also inspires a deeper engagement with the material. These websites span a broad spectrum of disciplines, ensuring that students can find reliable, enriching resources regardless of their area of interest.

Websites for High School Students

Here are some good websites for high school students:

The library of Congress

The Library of Congress, home of U.S. Copyright Office, offers a wide range of educational materials and primary source documents including books, recordings, images, manuscripts, maps, and newspapers.

The mission of the Library is to “to develop qualitatively the Library’s universal collections, which document the history and further the creativity of the American people and which record and contribute to the advancement of civilization and knowledge throughout the world, and to acquire, organize, provide access to, maintain, secure, and preserve these collections.”

The Smithsonian Learning Lab

The Smithsonian Learning Lab offers a diverse collection of resources to help students enhance their learning. These materials include recordings, digital images, texts, art and culture, and more.

The Lab also provides tools that students can use to upload, adapt, create, and share educational resources with colleagues, teachers, and parents. Students can use the Lab’s search service to search for resources to use in their own learning projects.

Google Arts and Culture

Google Arts & Culture is another great website for high school students. It provides students access to a huge repository of human knowledge stored in over 2000 cultural institutions from all over the world.

Students can use Google Arts & Culture to take virtual guided tours to different museums and exhibits in the world. They can also search for museums and exhibitions in their vicinity and explore their artwork.

Other features provided by Google Arts & Culture include games to teach students cultural literacy , museum explorer to explore world museums, today in history featuring major art and cultural events and historical figures, Street View to help you tour famous sites and landmarks, discover artists from all around the world, and many more.

Applied Digital Skills

Applied Digital Skills by Google for Education offers a wide variety of educational resources to help students develop the skills necessary for thriving in and out of school. The site embeds video-based lessons that students can access anytime anywhere for free.

The way it works is simple: students sign in as learners, once in their dashboard they can then start searching for lessons and begin their learning journey.

There are over 100 lessons organized into different collections. Students can search for lessons by audience (e.g., late elementary, middle school, high school, adult learners), by digital tool (e.g., Apps Script, Docs, Drawings, Drive, Forms, Gmail, Maps, Meet, AutoDraw, Photos, etc) or by topic (e.g., Art, Business, Math, Science, Social Studies, Study Skills and Organization,  Foreign Language, Financial skills, communication, etc).

BrainPOP offers a wide variety of educational games, animated videos and activities to enhance students learning and help them develop a better understanding of the world around them.

BrainPOP’s  materials cover different topics and content areas including science, health, reading and writing, social studies, math, arts and technology. BrainPOP also provides tools ‘that challenge students to reflect, make connections, and engage in deeper, curiosity-driven learning’.

Besides the main BrainPOP, there is also BrainPOP Jr for kids K-3 and offers learning resources that cover STEM, social studies, reading/writing, health, and arts. BrainPOP ELL is for English language learning for students of all ages. It offers educational materials on vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, and writing.

Prodigy is a free, adaptive math game that integrates Common Core math (1st-7th grade) into a fantasy style game that students absolutely love playing. Prodigy takes game-based learning a step further and provides teachers with a powerful set of reporting and assessment tools that allow them to easily identify trouble spots, differentiate instruction, and better manage classroom time.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy provides students access to a huge library of educational resources that include videos, interactive exercises, in-depth articles covering various content areas such as Math, science, economics, history, finance, and civics. Students can browse lessons by grade and topic.

Each lesson comes with video tutorials and step by step guides. There are also ‘practice exercises, quizzes, and tests with instant feedback and step-by-step hints’. More importantly, Khan Academy uses advanced algorithms to provide relevant learning materials tailored to each learner’s individual levels and skills.

Brainly is knowledge-sharing platform where students get help with their homework. Brainly resources are crowd-source and students. Answers to students inquiries are provided by members of the site’s community including fellow students, teachers, educators, PhDs, experts, among others.

Topics covered include Math, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Studies, Geography, Arts, Computer Science, Business, Law, Engineering, World Languages, Health and many more. For more similar sources check out best homework websites for students .

Math Homework Tools

This is a collection of some of the best tools to help students with their homework. Students can use them to seek help with their math problems and learn from their peers and tutors.

Using these tools and calculators, students will be able to access step by step explanations of complex math concepts related to various math topics including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, statistics, and many more. Also, these tools work both on desktop and mobile devices enabling students sync their learning experiences across different platforms.

Final thoughts

In conclusion, as we navigate the ever-evolving realm of educational technology, it’s crucial to remember the core purpose of these resources: to enrich and support the learning journey of high school students. This collection represents just a starting point, a springboard into the vast ocean of knowledge that digital education offers. Whether it’s exploring the rich archives of the Library of Congress, embarking on virtual tours with Google Arts and Culture, or tackling math challenges on Prodigy, these websites are gateways to discovery and growth. I encourage students and educators to delve into these resources, experiment with them in and out of the classroom, and continue to share insights and recommendations.

So next time you’re worried about whether your sentence is using “lie” vs. “lay” correctly, you should consider installing Grammarly.

Khan Academy (Free)

You’ve probably heard of the YouTube channel, but did you know they have an app too? Similar to the channel, the Khan Academy app for iOS and Android provides free online course videos covering various subjects, including math, physics, chemistry, history, grammar, economics, literature, and more. The app also offers video lessons tailored specifically to suit the syllabus of your AP courses as well as help you learn material for the SAT and SAT subject tests. This highly organized app can help you easily navigate between topic libraries and take practice tests. Another really cool feature that this app provides is the option to download the videos so you can watch them offline at any time!

Duolingo (Free)

Duolingo is very popular on lists of the best study apps for high school students, and for a reason. This free, easy-to-use app comes with bright colors and user-friendly graphics that can help you brush up your skills in over 30 languages! Yes, the images are fun, but don’t let all the popping features distract you from the fact that Duolingo helps you learn Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese or other languages for school, college applications, or as a hobby. Upon first download, the app determines your skill level and offers you listening, writing, speaking, and translating exercises based on your abilities. Earning points can serve as an incentive to work hard, but watch out because it feels very much like a game – you might get addicted!

Noisli ($1.99)

If you’re in search of best apps for high school students that can help boost your productivity – or even calm your nerves – Noisli helps block out unwanted noises and gets you in the zone to concentrate on studies. Simple to use and compatible with both your computer and smartphone, you can play around with different noise settings to make your environment fill up with sounds of steady rainfall, blowing wind, coffee shop chatter, and even birds chirping in a forest. If you don’t want any sound that could be distracting, Noisli also has a white noise feature. It might take you a bit of time to figure out what works for you. You can also play different sounds at the same time if that better suits your productivity. So, if you’re looking for a stress relieving environment, or you concentrate better with sounds of a coffee machine, go ahead and check it out.

Keynote (Free)

You might be familiar with Keynote already, since it’s an effective option for making presentations for school. Many students find Apple’s presentation app more touch-friendly and easily accessible than competitor apps such as Google Slides and Powerpoint, especially when working from a phone or tablet. Keynote enables you to choose from preset themes and layout to create slides and share with your friends, and you can easily connect your device to your school’s screen and present directly from Keynote. You can transfer between your computer and your phone without losing any key functionality. And if it’s a collaborative presentation, you can work with your friends easily as you can invite up to 20 users to work on a file over iCloud!

TextGrabber (Free)

TextGrabber is useful among the best study apps for high school students as it quickly captures any text from a physical book, magazine, or article, and converts it so that you can edit it. This can come in handy when you’re writing a Lit paper and need a quote from a book but don’t want to type it all out, or if you need to email your friend notes that you’ve written in a notebook. At the same time, TextGrabber functions as a scanner for when you need to transfer important forms and documents into your phone, so you don’t need to run off to the library in the middle of a study session.

FlashTabs (free) / Quizlet (Free)

Flashtabs and Quizlet are both specialized flashcard apps. If you’re tired of making flashcards by hand – or you want to save paper – consider one of these tools. Flashtabs is a Google Chrome extension which fills up your screen every time you open a new tab, quizzing you on Chemistry or SAT vocabulary words, whatever you might need help studying. So if you decide to take a break and try to open a separate tab, you’ll be faced with a flashcard!

Quizlet can be downloaded on your phone or used on your laptop. If you need to memorize dates for a history quiz, Quizlet should be your go-to. You can create your own custom flash card sets and even participate in live competitions. You can add diagrams and photos in case you want to study for a science test. Flashcard apps can make the monotonous work of memorization much more engaging.

Wunderlist (Free)

Continuing with our organization theme, when it comes to the best study apps for high school students , you might find Wunderlist handy if you’re trying to check items off your agenda. Wunderlist help you add, order, and schedule your to-do lists from your phone, tablet, and computer as well as set due dates and reminders to keep you on track. If you’re participating in a group project, you can assign tasks to your teammates to ensure that everyone does their part.

GoodNotes ($7.99)

GoodNotes provides user-friendly search and syncing options so that you can easily navigate across different topics. The cloud lets you access notes taken on one of your devices across your other devices as well.

What’s It About?

With MYHOMEWORK STUDENT PLANNER, kids in elementary school through college have a free way to keep track of any assignments they need to complete. Tasks are organized by individual class or specific calendar date, and kids can set recurring activities to repeat. Parents and teachers can customize settings to organize assignments by individual period or block-based schedules. When setting up assignments, kids can prioritize them and view them as complete, late, and upcoming. Kids can also set reminders. A built-in rewards system provides incentives to kids who complete their work and consistently add new assignments to their planner through a service called Kiip, though parents will need to enter an email address to use it. Users can upgrade to a premium account by paying an annual fee, which eliminates ads, offers customizable themes, and allows documents to be uploaded to classes and specific homework assignments.

Is It Any Good?

This free education homework planner is an excellent way to teach kids at an early age how to organize and keep track of homework and assignment due dates, all on their own. Many kids have trouble keeping track of a traditional assignment notebook. For kids with access to technology in school, this app will encourage kids to be more independent in adding tasks to their calendar and in planning for projects and upcoming tests. In the beginning, teachers and parents will need to be involved to monitor assignments and due dates, as well as to enter specific setting information to customize schedules. And manually entering all assignments if teachers aren't using the companion software can be tedious. However, the myHomework Student Planner app is a very valuable solution for kids and adults, especially those with executive functioning and memory difficulties. While parents and teachers may need to spend time customizing settings and checking the app daily for accuracy with young kids, it serves as a fantastic strategy to help students learn how to organize their homework, which promotes independence for high school and college. The app is heavily text based, so kids will need to be able to read in order to view the name of their assignments, or ask for help, or use the device settings to have text read to them.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

Families can talk about how myHomework Student Planner can help kids stay organized by keeping assignments in one location, while technology in general can improve overall neatness, reduce errors, and offer reminders for those who have difficulty remembering deadlines. How might this app work better than a paper planner?

Talk about ways to stay organized and avoid procrastination. Can using a homework planner app help kids track school assignments on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis so that they can get items finished on time?

#1 School Assignment Organization App

I am currently a sophomore in college and have been using this app since my sophomore year in high school. I cannot even imagine how i would stay organized without it. It is so easy to see what assignments need to be turned in, and i can also see my schedule day by day. I also uplaod pictures of needed pages in my textbook so i do not have to bring it home with me. The schools i have not had teachers that use the app to post assignments and it has still been very benneficial to me. you can fully use the app for free, but i choose to pay the annual fee which is very affordable at around just $5 i beleive. You can also sync your classes and assignments to your icloud calendar so it is all visible on your iphone. everything syncronizes easily between my devices and can even be accessed online from a school computer. In college i have gone to complete paperless work, where i have all my textbooks and nots on my ipad, and when i need to turn in an assignment i just print it off after completing it on my ipad. This app really helps with that where i can easily track all assignments that i have due right on my ipad, along with my notes and textbooks. I tried multiple different homework tracking apps and this is by far the best on the market.

Most useful app on Mac and iPhone

Mid-semester this spring, I had to reorganize my classes before starting two condensed courses on March 23. I searched for an app that would act as a digital homework planner with a clean interface, reminders, satisfying check boxes to click after completing assignments. Every traditional planner I’ve ever bought has ended up in the recycle bin so I figured it might be time to take my academics into the 21st century with some sort of organizer app geared specifically toward school. I found exactly that. This little widget has made my life exponentially more manageable and productive. The free version can do pretty much everything I would need it to do in order to stay organized. When I found out that the paid subscription is $4.99 for a year, I bought it to unlock the additional features like uploading documents, personalize the theme, but most importantly to support the developers who designed this app that has added much more than $4.99 of value to my life. I recommend myHomework to all of my classmates and friends. Truly a great investment in my own personal acadmic success. Thank you everyone at Instin, LLC.! You are doing great things. Cheers, Erik

I Love It, But...

I really enjoy this app - I use it everyday as HS student to keep organized with my classes. It has great features (I love the calendar, how you can preview your month with the tasks you've already put in, etc...) and I also enjoy the themes. The thing I love the most is the way it syncs between my iPhone and my Mac, so I can have my calendar everywhere! I plan to use this in college when I graduate at the end of this year. My only complaints are that it sometimes goes through phases of crashing (which can be so frustrating when you're trying to punch a deadline in as soon as the teacher verbally announces it in the middle of a lecture!), and the fact that you don't have the option to separate your tasks by time. By this I mean, just like in the previous homework app I used, it doesn't separate tasks by week, two weeks, three weeks, month, etc. I just feel like it would be more organized and nicer looking this way. When I have 6 tasks for the upcoming week and 3 that are over a month away in one place, it makes me feel cluttered - constantly reminding myself that "Oh, that isn't due until-" is a slight nuisance. May just be me but I'd love the option to organize things better in that way!

Q: “What Electronic Planners Work for Students with ADHD?”

Electronic planners can help students with adhd — and learning disabilities like dysgraphia — who struggle to stay organized with paper calendars. here are 3 app recommendations..

Leslie Josel

Q: “Could you suggest some electronic planners for a teen with ADHD? My son refuses to use paper planners; he has a tactile sensitivity to paper. But he loves anything that can be done on a computer and I think would be more open to planning if it were done electronically.” – Lulu

I’m never a fan of pushing any type of organizing or planning system on anyone. Different systems work for different individuals. So if paper is not your son’s jam — but electronic is — then let’s work to find the best planner system for HIM!

There are a lot of electronic planner apps out there, but I find most to be clunky or hard to use. Granted, I’m not super tech savvy, so you know if I can figure out an app or find it intuitive, then it has to be relatively easy! Here are a few of my favorites:

[ Read: 25 Great Mobile Apps for ADHD Minds ]

MyHomework Student Planner . This app gives you a calendar to track your assignments, exams, and other important dates, plus a homework widget where you can sync up your assignments and receive deadline reminders. You even get rewarded for finishing assignments. Perfect for remembering those dreadful deadlines.

Google Calendar. My college student coaching clients swear by Google Calendar. (To be fair they use our academic planner alongside it.) Being a college student is overwhelming, especially balancing classes, assignments, and all the life stuff. Google calendar allows you to add recurring events, receive notifications, color code, and even set goals.

My Study Life. My favorite feature is that this app supports week and day rotation timetables as well traditional weekly schedules . It works on all devices, stores your data in the cloud, and even notifies you of incomplete tasks as well as upcoming classes and exams.

The Best Calendar Apps for College Students in 2024

The college experience is a whirlwind of deadlines, exams, and social commitments. And, hopefully, you’re able to somehow squeeze in enough sleep as well. To put it simply, it can be a challenge to juggle these demands.

It’s for this reason that the humble calendar app should become your BFF. Even if it’s not as exciting as TikTok or Subway Surfers, it’s an essential tool for both your academic and personal lives.

At the same time, with so many calendar apps out there, choosing the right one can feel like another test in itself. Because you already have a packed schedule, we have the 12 best college calendar apps for you to choose from.

1. Calendar

Wanna make your college experience less stressful? Calendar can help you do that.

What is it like trying to schedule a time with your microbiology class study group? Using Calendar’s Find a Time feature, you can schedule a meeting in seconds. You can then enter multiple people’s calendars, see when they’re available or busy, and then create an event based on those times via a smart scheduling link.

You can also add location options, such as a physical address, phone number, or Zoom link. Moreover, if this event is recurring, Calendar will add it automatically thanks to the power of machine learning.

In a nutshell, Calendar prevents calendar conflicts and makes scheduling as painless as possible. Also, it eliminates those annoying back-and-forths when scheduling meetings with classmates, like study sessions. The app is available on Google Play as well as the App Store can connect with Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar .

2. Google Calendar

Let’s face it, you probably already have the free Google Calendar installed. It’s for good reason, too.

Most users are familiar with its intuitive interface, seamless integration with other Google services (Docs, Gmail, etc.), and availability on multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, web). Creating calendars for study groups, assigning reminders, and color-coding events is a breeze with this app. Additionally, you can seamlessly turn to-dos into calendar events by integrating with Google Tasks .

The benefits are even greater if Gmail is your primary email address. Calendar events can be created automatically based on the emails you receive. For example, when you book things like airline tickets or concert tickets, your calendar will be updated.

3. Apple Calendar

In case you’re all in on Apple products, Apple Calendar is probably your calendar of choice. This isn’t a bad thing. In the end, it syncs your events across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and whatever shiny device Apple will come up with next.

As far as scheduling goes, Apple Calendar does a solid enough job. It reduces the time and effort required to enter events manually by allowing you to insert events directly from emails and text messages. Plus, like most Apple products, it’s clean, fast, and well-functioning.

There may not be as many options as other calendar apps, but the free Apple Calendar is well-suited for your basic scheduling tasks.

4. Microsoft To Do

Few planner apps are better for college students than this one. Why? It is simple to use and allows assignments to be sorted into lists. For instance, you can create sections called “Home”, “Lab”, and “Work.”. For each section, you can create sub-tasks as well. As an example, you can include tasks such as “Find sources,” “Upload pictures,” etc. in a biology project.

Among the most valuable features of this application is saving unchecked actions from yesterday. Using this option, you can easily see which tasks need to be moved to other days or to “My Day.”

By prioritizing tasks , setting due dates, and getting reminders, Microsoft To-Do can help students manage their time and tasks. Also, Teams can be used for free by students and teachers from K-12 to collegiate level with a valid school email address.

5. My Study Life

Most calendar apps target busy professionals, but My Study Life caters specifically to students. Because of this, you won’t find some features in other calendar apps.

My Study Life has innovative scheduling features to help you stay on top of your classes and extracurricular activities. With My Study Life, you can also keep track of your classes no matter how they change during the week. There is even a section dedicated to scheduling your exams.

In addition to synchronizing your schedule across devices, My Study Life works offline as well. You’ll always have access to your classes and assignments regardless of location or internet connection. The My Study Life app is available on Android, iOS, and the Web.

6. iStudiez Pro

IStudiez Pro is an award-winning, highly-rated planner app made just for students. And it’s easy to see why.

You just need to enter your class schedule — along with the professor’s name, contact information, and office hours. To make it visually interesting and easier to scan, you can color code your classes.

With the “Week view,” you can plan your time and prepare for classes that are coming up. You can view tasks and scheduled items for today in the “Day view.” It is possible to add assignments, their due dates, and specific tasks associated with each class.

iStudiez Pro’s Full Version even lets you keep track of your GPA on a regular basis. As you get graded assignments back, enter them. The GPA tracker on iStudiez does the math for you. By keeping this information between semesters, you can keep an eye on the big picture.

You can download the app for free on Android, iOS, and the web. It costs $2.99 on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for the Pro version.

7. Fantastical

Trying to find a better calendar app for your Mac or iOS device? If so, Fantastical might be right for you.

Among Fantastical’s main strengths is its deep integration with Apple. That means no matter what device you use, Fantastical keeps your calendar up-to-date. It works on Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.

In addition, you can easily create events while on the go with the app’s powerful natural language processing. Using geofenced reminders , you can get reminders only when you are at a specific location, for example.

Last but not least, Fantastical also integrates with iCloud, Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, and many other calendar apps. The app is fully localized for multilingual users or workplaces for English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.

For individuals, Fantastical costs $4.75 per month.
