12 home office gifts for anyone working from home: accessories, tech & more

Home office gifts and accessories for the working-from-home crew.

Best working from home gifts

The pandemic transformed millions of us from Starbucks-toting commuters into work-from-home pros – dressing smart from the waist up and doing our best to Feng Shui our bedrooms into something resembling an office space . The HELLO! Online team are no exception!

Our Senior Lifestyle Editor Karen Silas says: "With the pandemic - and lockdown - I, like millions of people, got a crash course in working from home. I was definitely not prepared to instantly re-create a comfortable, efficient space conducive to working in peace all day in my flat. But now, after transforming a spare room into a dual-purpose guest room and home office that I still use today, I have a great idea of what's not just essential - a laptop tray to work while sitting on the sofa, or noise-cancelling headphones for example - but also those little extras that make it so much nicer to WFH."

These days, hybrid working means working from home continues at least some of the time. While some have taken the change well, others may be struggling. If you're looking for a gift for a home worker who could do with a bit of a pick-me-up, or even if you want to treat yourself, we've got you covered.

We've scoured the best online retailers for the best gifts for those working from home – whether you're after something to brighten up their desk space, a cool gadget that'll make their life easier or just something to make them smile – these are the home office must-haves they'll love.

How we chose the best home office gifts and accessories

  • Price: We included home office essentials with a competitive price point, without sacrificing on quality. Where possible, we included products and accessories that were on sale.
  • Personal experience: The HELLO! Online team are all hybrid workers, so we all have plenty of experience in decking out our home offices. We included only the products we love and can’t live without - we know they’ll make the best gifts!
  • Reviews: Where we couldn’t test the products ourselves, we focused on reviews from verified shoppers - and we only included home office accessories and gifts that received a good number of consistently positive reviews.
  • Variety: Some shoppers might want to gift something practical or techy, others might want something to brighten up a friend’s desk. We tried to include something for everyone.

The best working-from-home gifts for your home office

A work-from anywhere laptop stand.

SEFFO Lap Desk Laptop stand

SEFFO Lap Desk Laptop stand

Sales of these rocketed during the pandemic, but if you know someone who still doesn’t have one, you couldn’t choose a better home office gift. They’re just so handy to have, and this is the Amazon choice option for ‘laptop tray’ - which means the online shopping giant has deemed it a high rated, well-priced product which is available to ship immediately. They’re not wrong - it has an impressive 4.6-star rating and over 2k positive reviews and counting. It’s sleek, lightweight and the perfect size (30.5 x 57.5 x 5cm). It also features a dual-bolster cushion to allow for comfort and increased airflow, a built-in mouse pad and phone slot.

The ultimate calming home office window decoration

Kikkerland Rainbow Maker

Kikkerland Rainbow Maker

You can really put this in the category of home office gifts for the person who has everything. They surely won’t have this! It instantly brings rainbow magic and calming vibes to your home office. All you need to do is fix it to the window via the suction cup and the sun will charge the solar battery, and soon it’ll get going. The motor turns the crystal, refracting the sun’s rays into beautiful rainbows.

The most stylish home office pen

Hello Day Hexagon Brass Ballpoint Pen

Hello Day Hexagon Brass Ballpoint Pen

When you’re using something every day, it’s nice if it’s going to make you happy every time you look at it! That can certainly be said for Hello Day’s gorgeous new Hexagon Brass Ballpoint Pen. It’s a pleasure to write with, being satisfyingly heavy to hold and smooth on the page. Purchase it with a  protective leather or faux leather sleeve if you want to go that extra mile, and refills are available when it does eventually run out of ink.

A genius mouse that will save them from wrist, shoulder & back pain

RollerMouse pro

RollerMouse Pro

The RollerMouse pro is unlike any mouse you've ever seen. It operates by sliding and turning a rolling centrepiece, thus keeping your hands centred, and keering your wrists at a natural angle. Unlike conventional mice, which don't allow for ergonomic wrist support and can cause strain in the wrists, neck and shoulders. This is a gift that’s literally investing in the recipient's future health - especially if they spend hours in front of the computer.

Not only is the mouse easy to set up and configure (I had the wireless vession up and running in minutes with the scroll and click strengths set to my liking) but it has an impressive three-month battery life before you have to charge it again (via the included USB C cable). The sleek Scandi design is a plus point - as is the fact it comes with a central six-button panel which can be customised to your preferred needs and shortcuts.

The first few days were a bit of an adjustment as I got used to the roller (I did feel a bit like I was playing with an Etch a Sketch!) but now that I'm used to it I honestly wouldn’t be without it now - and my future wrists will absolutely thank me for it!

The prettiest mouse mat in existence

Acezeek Large Mouse Mat

Acezeek Large Mouse Mat

Once you switch to a wide mouse mat, you’ll never go back. At 90 x 40cm It can fit your keyboard, mouse and even your cup of tea. Sure you could get a basic plain one, but this one is just so gorgeous. It’s waterproof too. We guarantee it’d go down well as a home office gift for someone who likes pretty things.

The ultimate home office hot and cold water dispenser

Aqua Optima Aurora Instant Hot & Cold Filter Water Dispenser

Aqua Optima Aurora Instant Hot & Cold Filter Water Dispenser

I have been buying Aqua Optima water dispensers ever since they were first launched. This mean machine is the latest model they’ve released and it’s brilliant. There’s no plumbing or installation required, just a single plug and you'll have access to a chilled or piping hot water. You do have to remember to fill it up as you go, but it you can live with that, it really is a game changer home office gift.

A desk plant that filters the air as you work

Peace Lily Plant by Bunches

Peace Lily Plant by Bunches

Bunches have a beautiful range of house plants you can choose online and have delivered – they even offer plant subscriptions, so the gift recipient gets a gorgeous new plant every month. The Peace Lily, which arrives in a beautiful natural jute pot, is a great option. They naturally filter harmful toxins from the air and boost the humidity of a room by up to 5% - both of which help promote healthy sleep.

A stylish home office desk lamp that helps you sleep better

All day all night Occulamp

All day all night Occulamp

A portable desk light that promotes good health and restful sleep? Yes, please! This clever lamp is different as it's designed to be low on blue light, which is bad for your eyes and your sleep, tripping up the body clock by blocking melatonin. It has three settings depending on whether you want your workstation at its brightest or whether you're winding down for the day. I have this and I love the fact you can charge it up and move it to where you need it.

The funny yet functional home office accessory

The world’s smallest vacuum

The world’s smallest vacuum

Hands up if you’re guilty of snacking at your desk and getting crumbs all over your laptop? Not a problem if you have this tiny vacuum cleaner. I can confirm that aside from being hilariously funny, it does actually work!

The mouse that works on any surface

Logitech MX Anywhere wireless mouse

Logitech MX Anywhere wireless mouse

I have this mouse and three years after purchasing it, I still think it’s the best home office accessory I own. It tracks on any surface, table, glass - even your duvet, should you desire. I’m not the only one who loves it - it has over 6k positive ratings on Amazon and an impressive 4.6-star rating. You can get it in black, pink or white.

The gift of eternally hot brews

Ember New Temperature-Control smart mug

Ember New Temperature-Control smart mug

The cup of tepid cold tea is the scourge of the home office worker, but the Ember smart mug will banish that problem in a jiffy. It’s an app-controlled smart mug that you can control via your smartphone to set the temperature you want your tea or coffee to stay at. The battery life is decent (1.5 hours off the coaster) or just leave it on the coaster for pipping hot tea all day long. Be warned though - you can’t put this in the dishwasher, it’s hand wash only. Small price to pay though, in my humble opinion. You can get it in gold, rose gold or stainless steel if that fits the decor of the gift recipient’s home office better.

A pair of slippers they won't want to take off

Mahabis curve slippers

Mahabis curve

I own several pairs of these, trust me when I say they’re absolutely amazing. My other half also has them, and he is picky over his slippers! They are amazingly comfortable but also supportive of your feet (important if you’re wearing them for many hours a day) the designs are seriously funky too. You can mix and match the colours to create your own unique design. They might be above the price of your average slipper, but they last years so they are worth every penny.

36 Awesome Gifts for People who Work From Home

Written By: The Planet D

Inspiration

Updated On: February 9, 2024

Lifestyles have certainly changed these past few years, and many people are now working from home entirely or splitting their time between the home office and work. This has opened up an entirely new holiday shopping sector with people searching for gifts for people who work from home. Since we’ve been digital nomads for 15 years, we decided to put together the best work from home gifts that have helped us create a better workspace at home.

Table of Contents

Best Gifts for People Working from Home

Through trial and error, we have found great office gadgets , gear , tech accessories, and decor to create the ultimate workspace. If you know someone who works from home or is a remote worker, these gift ideas should help you get creative when finding the perfect holiday gift. So let’s go shopping for the must have gifts for the remote worker in your life. Looking for more gift ideas? Check out these 41 Best Gifts for Travelers

1. Ring Light

In today’s world, we have a lot of online meetings and video calls. The ring light is a great addition for a home office to help you feel confident when giving a presentation or performing a job interview. Most computer desktops face a wall, or a corner, or even sit on the kitchen table. Even though laptops are mobile, the light just never seems right. Check it out here.

Once we invested in a good video conference lighting kit, it lit up our faces, softened the shadows, and evened out our skin tone. We can adjust the brightness levels depending on the atmosphere creating professional lighting that will make everyone think you look like a million bucks.

I was a TV makeup artist in m y previous life and I’m always aware of how our faces look in interviews. With proper lighting, I now feel confident that we look alert and fresh when taking online meetings or interviews.

2. Lume Cube Light

When traveling We also carry a Cube Light that connects to our Jobi Gorilla Pod. This is the perfect light for iPhone meetings or interviews for the remote worker on the go. Just put your phone in the Gorilla Pod phone holder, attach the lightweight Lume Cube Light to the easy connect plate and you have a mini studio to look your best for meetings or interviews.

You can get a computer mount for it as well with this package.

3. Noise Cancelling Headphones

One of the best gifts to give your favorite remote worker who has lots of distractions at home is noise-canceling headphones or earbuds. I put on mellow jazz or peaceful meditation mix when I’m writing, and it blocks out all the noise. Sometimes when I really need to concentrate, I simply put on my headphones for silence. I don’t even listen to music, I just use the noise-cancellation function to help me concentrate.

They are so simple and automatically connect to my computer, phone or iPad once I put them on. Plus I have selected the proper earbud for optimal noise removal. Air Pods let you test the seal to make sure you have proper coverage and it warns you when you have been listening to your music too loud. I love them! We both use them when we are doing joint interviews and on Zoom calls as well. Check them out on Amazon .

I’ve switched from my Beats Solo Wireless Headphones to being a full time Apple Airpods user but these are also a great option for full coverage noise cancellation headphones.

4. Blue Microphone

I have watched so many video calls and TV interviews with terrible sound. The Blue Microphone is a small investment that makes the sound of your voice crisp and clear during virtual meetings. When working remotely there is usually a lot of background noise, with its directional mic, it blocks out ambient noise and it captures the depth of my voice.

When listening to people through their computer speakers, the base is missing, and voices sound tinny and sometimes downright irritating. I have had to change the channel when guests make video calls into news stations, and their voices sound like a tin can. If they had the Blue Microphone, they’d sound golden.

This is the perfect addition for a home office. It is also great for YouTube Video voiceovers as well. Pick up this Blue Yeti Microphone for recording and streaming on Amazon in the color of your choice. It’s compatible with Mac or PC.

5. Lap Desk

The advantage of working from home is that we can switch things up. I work at my desktop in my home office all morning, but I love being able to move to another room for a change of pace. So, I grab my laptop and bring it to the couch with a lap desk complete with a mouse pad and iPhone holder. For the remote worker, this is a great gift whether they are working or watching Netflix in bed.

I ruined my neck in my early days of travel blogging by laying on hotel beds to write and I still have neck pain to this day. If had a desk that put my laptop to the proper height, I would have saved myself a lot of pain since I know how it is at the correct height. I probably wouldn’t be having the neck pain and back issues I am having today.

Buy this stylish white marble LapGear Lap Desk with a built-in ledge, phone holder, and mouse pad on Amazon.

6. Adjustable Foot Rest

One thing I find when working at my desk for eight hours or more is that I need to move my feet, and I want them up to ease pressure on my back. Having an at home office lets me create the perfect setting for my back. I am constantly fidgeting at my desk, and the way to remedy this is an adjustable footrest. I have seen desk foot hammocks and stools as well, but for me, adjustable is the way to go.

I find that depending on my mood, I want a height adjustment. As a work-from-home person, this adjustable memory foam footrest is ideal Get this affordable adjustable footrest on Amazon today.

7. Charging Hub

Before we organized our office, I had chargers everywhere. We have so many electronics between headphones, iPhones, mics, and cameras, we have cords everywhere. Creating a dedicated charging station has helped us charge our electronics easily before traveling and keeping everything in one place. It takes up little space and makes life easier by putting a portable charger complete with phone charger, headphone chargers and other USB chargers all in once place.

This 6 port USB charging station will keep your favorite remote employee organized and happy.

10. WaterH Smart Water Bottle

One of the hardest parts about working from home is staying hydrated. So, it doesn’t hurt to have a little help. The Water H Smart Water Bottle tracks your daily water intake and even reminds you when it is time to drink water. There is a handy app that you can download that is compatible with iPhone and Android that you customize to help with reminder preference and frequency.

It is super easy to track your daily intake as it keeps track of how much you drink. The app senses the volume of water in the smart water bottle and the bottle even has sensors that measure the quality of water you drink. For anyone struggling with staying hydrated, this is a great gift.

10. Fruit Infusion Water Bottles

One of my worst habits when sitting at my desk is that I don’t drink enough water. I fill up my water bottle each morning, sit it beside my desk, and proceed not to drink a thing. Infusing fruit into my water has inspired me to drink more and this is a super affordable gift for someone working remotely.

I look at raspberry or orange-infused water as sipping a delicious cup of tea. It has helped me stay hydrated and healthy and I find that with a little flavoring I drink more. The fruit infusion water bottle is an easy way to add excitement to your tap water. This is a great work-from-home gift f or under $25.

9. CloudValley Webcam Privacy Cover

Our friends Andrew and Rebecca introduced us to the webcam privacy cover . These computer privacy covers are a great choice for an affordable gift for remote workers. You never know who can get access to your computer these days, so when not using your webcam, cover it. It fits easily over our MacBook Pro, Macbook Air or any other computer camera. The metal cover is easy to slide up and down when you are ready to use your webcam. It’s good for Zoom calls when you want your camera off to stay in case you accidentally have your camera on.

11. Sodastream

Another way I’ve been staying hydrated is by using my soda stream. It seems to be my go-to afternoon refreshment. A little bubble works like caffeine (without the caffeine) waking me up! It’s refreshing, and delicious, and keeps my daily intake of water to the max.

Your friend or loved one who works from home will love this gift! Make sure to give them some flavoring – Lime Cordial is my go-to flavor for my Soda Stream.

12. Decorative Plants

Bring a hint of flair and originality to a home office by adding plants. Everyone loves plants, which is the perfect gift for someone working from home. My friend Arienne from See You Soon Travel brought Dave and me two beautiful easy-to-care plants that are almost impossible to kill. They add color and warmth to office spaces, making them a more welcoming environment. When looking for gifts for an at home office, this is a no brainer.

13. Smart Notebook

If you don’t want the huge expense of an iPad, a Smart Notebook is a fun option. Instead of having sticky notes all over the office (I’m guilty of this) consider a smart notebook. It works like a dry erase pad or easel, but it’s in a notebook. You can write your notes and wipe them away when you have finished your tasks or doodling. See this eco-friendly notebook here

14. Note Pads

I have a ton of journals. It seems that at every event I attend, I receive a journal, but nothing compares to a regular notepad. If you want a more affordable option for the Apple Pencil and iPad, a fun notepad makes for a great stocking stuffer for remote workers.

I don’t need my daily notes saved in a journal forever, I want them gone once the tasks have been tackled. I need to be able to write my to-do list down, check them off when finished, and move on. I go through about a page a week.

15. Fun Coffee Mug

Looking for something easy to get that certain someone who works from home? A fun coffee mug is an easy stocking stuffer or gift for under $25. Dave recently got us huge matching mugs that say Hubby and Wifey.

I love having a cup of herbal tea in the afternoon in my oversized mug. I love a big handmade tea mug like this one when working at my desk for hours on end.

16. Temperature Control Smart Mug

If you want to invest a little more in a mug, a smart mug is an excellent option for a coffee mug because it keeps hot beverages warm. The Next Mug Temperature Control Smart Mug keeps hot drinks warm for up to 90 minutes. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten about my coffee only to sip on it an hour later. You can take a look here for pricing.

17. Picture Frame and Digital Picture Frames

I simple way to spruce up any work space is with decorative picture frames. Picture frames are a great choice when shopping for gifts for people who work at home.

Think about their style and get them an elegant frame to put their awards, family pictures, or loving pet in a frame so they can glance at their favorite moments in time throughout the day. This Waysse Picture frame will fit any decor.

Another option is a digital picture frame where they will have the option to change photos regularly. See more details here.

18. Scented Candles

Working from home can get a bit stuffy. Many people are banished to the basement or forced into a corner in the kitchen. A scented candle can instantly lighten the mood. It’s all about making a work space inviting and comfortable to work in.

A scented candle can help relax the everyday stresses of work. A lavender-scented candle can help calm my nerves when I am getting stressed out with work. Choose one of these scented soy candles. Browse candle scents here

If your loved one doesn’t have the best air quality, take it up a notch and get them an air purifier so that they can add essential oils. We used this in our condo in downtown Toronto and it made such a pleasant atmosphere. This AeroEve is a good affordable option for an air purifier for home.

19. Essential Oil Diffuser

If you want to up the scented candle a bit, an essential oil infuser will be greatly appreciated as a gift for people who work from their homes. I love adding a touch of eucalyptus or peppermint to my diffuser in the afternoon. It wakes me up and the scent lasts all night so when I go back to the office in the morning, it has the beautiful scent of a spa.

Make sure to pair the diffuser with a few essential oils. Lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, and cedarwood are great places to start. This is a great diffuser.

20. Lumbar Support Cushion for An Office Chair

Let’s face it: sitting for long hours in an office chair is not good for you. But it’s part of the job. While an Ergonomic office chair might be out of the budget (and besides, an office chair is a personal choice), a lumbar support seat cushion is the perfect gift to make sitting at the desk bearable.

Check out this lumbar support cushion. It has perfectly molded memory foam to soothe those aching muscles.

21. Adjustable Standing Desk

If you know a person well, you could get them a standing desk. This has made all the difference in our work day we can adjust the desk to suit our mood. And it has helped with back pain when we spend long hours editing photos or videos. However, a desk is a personal choice, so make sure you know the person well before making a purchase. See more details here.

I like this standing desk as it adjusts with a motor, making it easy to tailor the height to any position. Sometimes I like raising and lowering my chair, so with this desk, I can change the height to how I feel.

22. Anti Fatigue Mat

If your friend already has an adjustable desk, get them an anti-fatigue mat to stand on. When I decided to get an adjustable desk, my chiropractor told me to make sure to wear shoes with good support. But this anti-fatigue matt by Sky Solutions is an option to use in place for the home or the office. Buy it here.

23. Cubii Underdesk Elliptical

Dave and I have an elliptical trainer at home, but if I didn’t have something to hop on inside the house I think I’d like a Cubii. While a Cubii can’t replace good old-fashioned walking or working out, it can at least get the legs moving when you are putting in a 12-hour day at the office. Plus it has different resistance levels, so you can actually get the muscles working.

Studies have found that people are working longer hours from home and we are all forgetting to move. I look at this as a fun gift to get someone who works from home. I mean, who would ever think of buying themselves a Cubii? See it here.

Isn’t that what the best gifts for? Buying something someone would never consider purchasing for themselves.

24. Google Home – Nest Mini

We’ve had a Google Home for a couple of years and only recently put one in our office. I have become so used to asking Google questions that I can’t live without her. If I don’t have my noise cancelling headphones on, I have Google play music or soothing ocean waves.

I can quickly ask her to date, tell her to set the alarm, and alert me of any upcoming meetings. This is an affordable gift that anyone will love. It takes up little space and can also work as a white noise machine to block out background noise.

25. Apple Pencil and iPad

I take a lot of useless notes during the day. Whenever I am on a conference call, I feel the need to jot down notes. I end up tossing paper galore. That is until I got an iPad with Apple Pencil . I now doodle and take notes and don’t waste paper or make a mess. It attaches to my iPad and automatically charges.

26. Desk Calendar

We all use our Google calendars these days, but having an old-fashioned decorative desk calendar is still nice. Think about what the person’s interests are and get them a lovely desk calendar. We love to travel, and this 1000 Places to See Before you Die calendar by our friend Patricia Schultz is an amazing choice for the travel lover in your life. Get the 2023 calendar here.

While working away at your desk, you can be inspired to work harder to save for that dream destination that is staring at you from your calendar. Buy her book A Thousand Places to See Before You Die as another great gift for travelers .

27. Affirmations Wall Art

One thing that helps motivate me is seeing my favourite motivational quote front and center. When feeling blue, I always go back to the quotes that inspired me. People almost always have empty wall space in their offices, so help them spruce it up with thoughtful gifts such as Wall Art and inspiring quotes.

Positive affirmations surrounding their workspace can help motivate them to work throughout the day to achieve their goals.

28. Pajamas for Work

Okay, we are going there! Yes, we work in our pajamas from home. Even though we have been remote workers for more than 10 years, it wasn’t until we were locked down that I found the joy of pajamas.

When purchasing pajamas for someone working from home, make sure to get classy loungewear or classic flannels. It’s nice to be able to feel comfortable, but I find that it is still important to feel put together. I stocked up on pajamas that I feel comfortable answering the door for a delivery or even getting on a video call to chat with clients. PJs have come a long way baby!

29. Comfy Slippers

Comfy feet make for a comfy workspace . No one wants cold feet while working, so give the gift of comfort this year. Slippers have always been a fan favorite for holiday gifts and when searching for gifts for someone who works from home, this is an easy choice. You can never have enough slippers. Check some options out here.

Even when working from home, we like to change things up a bit. I change up my loungewear and I like to change up my footwear. Sometimes it’s big slouchy reading socks, and others it’s an elegant slipper.

30. Wireless Speakers

I don’t like to wear headphones all day long, but it is always nice to have soft music playing. Or in the afternoons, more upbeat tracks to help with motivation.

While Dave and I use a Sonos system , this can be quite expensive to get someone. But affordable wireless speakers are a great addition to any office allowing soft music to sit on the desktop letting you listen to podcasts or music in style.

31. Desk Lamp

How many people do you know who have the same desk lamp they have been using since high school or college? It wasn’t until this past year that we finally bought modern lamps to suit our style. This is a perfect gift for those who love to travel .

If you are having a hard time finding a gift for someone who works from home, try searching for a lamp with personality. You can go decorative or functional. If you want to go for something more unique, get a light therapy lamp. It’s perfect for the holidays as the days get shorter and we all become a little sunlight-deprived.

This Magnetic Floating Globe with LED light is a fun idea for people working from home who love to travel. But we also love the office lamps that have build in charging pads and USB ports for optimal functionality.

32. Gourmet Tea or Coffee

For that certain someone who has it all, why not get them monthly a gourmet coffee or tea assortment pack? Even if their office is set up to perfection they can never have enough java or specialty teas. Or you can add to making their workday that much better by getting them a tea subscription. Imagine having a new flavor to try each month. They will think of you all year long.

It’s the gift that they’ll remember as you’ll be sending them a delicious treat each month for the next year!

33. Gourmet Coffee Maker

If you really want to splurge, invest in a gourmet coffee maker. We love our De’Longhi espresso machine, and this is a more affordable version with a lower price point than the De’Longhi Dinamica Plus.

Make barista-style coffees and cappuccinos. I enjoy having a decaf in the afternoon for a soothing break without adding the buzz. Check it out it here

34. Custom Luxury Pen

Even though we have all gone the way of electronics, people still love a good pen. An elegant gift idea for anyone is to give them a classy pen. Even if you’re not in the office, it’s so much fun to whip out an expensive pen. I love a good pen that writes like butter.

I still take notes in a notebook and while on assignment I love having a good pen to use while interviewing or jotting down ideas. You can even have something engraved on it. See this beautiful engraved cross pen .

35. Blue Blocking Glasses

Even if you don’t wear glasses, it’s a good idea to wear blue-light blocking glasses when working at the computer. When staring at the screen all day, my eyes feel fatigued and my blue-blocking glasses work like a charm.

This is a unique gift idea for people who work at home. It’s not something a lot of people buy for themselves, but just make sure that you get a pair that suits their style.

36. Adjustable Office Organizer

Let’s face it, we all have a lot of stuff on our desks. A great way to spruce up an office is to give the gift of organization. this small desktop organizer lets you organize your papers, books, pen and pencil holders, or knickknacks in a tasteful display while clearing up the clutter on your desk. This is an easy gift for those who work at home to make it into something of their own.

37. Apple Watch

I resisted this watch for quite some time, but since the series 8 has come out, they are looking far more elegant for my taste. If you do choose to go with the classic, you can choose from different color options for the band to suit your needs.

We bought my parents a couple and they can’t live without them now. In fact, I do think the Apple watch saved my dad’s life. They are always checking their heart rate on their watches and one day Dad noticed fibrillation on his watch and went to the doctor. After a series of tests, they found a heart problem and he had a pacemaker installed . I don’t work for Apple and it isn’t a science, but if dad didn’t have that blip on is watch, you never know what would have happened in the future.

My mom keeps telling me to get one, so Dave, if you are reading this…

38. Cord Organizers

If you want to add a stocking stuffer to go with the charging station, add a cord organizer. I love keeping all my cords in order so that they are not making a mess on my desk. Plus with all my hard drives and external accessories, my cords can get really mixed up. Having a good organizer lets me find what I need to plug in easily and they remain sorted keeping my desktop clear to create a less chaotic workspace. Read: Best Organizers for Smarter Packing

The 31 Best Gifts for People Who Work From Home

An assortment of items we recommend as gifts for people who work from home, including a plant, a porcelain mug, and a pair of slippers, laid out together.

Chances are good that you know (and maybe are) someone who works from home—someone who craves comfort, an aesthetically pleasing workspace, and the ability to work in peace. This year, give a practical gift that any remote employee can enjoy throughout the day, from simple tech upgrades to little luxuries that put the “home” in “home office.”

A pair of Merippa Reversible House Shoes.

Merippa Reversible House Shoes

These modern, mostly cotton Japanese house shoes are machine washable and perfect for shoe-free households (or anyone who wants warm feet).

Buying Options

There’s simply no reason to put on outdoor shoes when you work from home. Merippa Reversible House Shoes , though, are a different story, comfortably occupying the niche between hole-prone socks and overly structured slippers. These cleverly reversible soft-body wonders are meant only for the house, and they can tolerate being thrown in the wash when their bottoms get dingy. We’re wild about the range of colors and prints, as well as the way they roll into compact balls for Marie Kondo–style packing.

Crumb cleaner

Close-up of an Earth & Nest Computer Laptop Brush on top of laptop's keyboard.

Redecker Computer Laptop Brush

This two-brush combination of coarser horse fibers and softer goat bristles keeps keyboards crumb- and dust-free.

Chances are, your favorite at-home worker eats a lunch or two at their desk each week. As a result, an occasional breadcrumb or bit of cheese might end up nestled in their keyboard. The handy and good-looking Redecker Computer Laptop Brush is two brushes in one: a stiff horsehair brush for working stubborn gunk from between laptop keys, and a softer goat-hair brush for gently vanquishing dust. It’s all set into a folding beechwood handle.

Minimalist planner

A seven-day Poketo Stick To It Weekly sheet stuck on a wall.

Poketo Stick To It Weekly Pad

Take weekly schedules off devices with this pad of seven-day sticky notes. They easily stick on and peel off any smooth surface.

For a person whose online calendar is chockablock with plans and deadlines, the simple seven-day Poketo Stick To It Weekly Pad planner offers a helpful, analog way to keep track of the tasks at hand. Staff writer Samantha Schoech uses it to track weekly work deadlines separate from the extreme chaos of the familial Google Calendar, while supervising editor Hannah Morrill sticks one to the fridge to keep her family looped in during particularly busy weeks.

The best pencils

Our upgrade pick for the best pencil for writing and schoolwork, the Palomino Blackwing 602.

Palomino Blackwing 602

This smooth-as-silk pencil has a replaceable eraser, an incense-cedar barrel, and a smooth, dark core. It costs over twice as much as most writing pencils, but it’s worth the investment.

It might seem silly to wax rhapsodic over a simple pencil—but only until you try a Blackwing. With a cedar barrel and a smooth creamy graphite, the admittedly expensive Palomino Blackwing 602 pencils have earned legions of fans among writers and artists, as well as a place in our guide to the best pencils . With accessories such as replaceable erasers , tip protectors , and special sharpeners , each Blackwing pencil can last for an exceedingly long time. The downside: All other pencils will forever pale in comparison.

An unfussy frame

Clear Muji magnetic photo frames in different sizes.

Muji Magnetic Photo Frame

Clear acrylic slabs are magnetized to display photos simply. They come in multiple sizes and stand up on their own.

For a small desk space that could use a tasteful personal touch, the minimalist Muji Magnetic Photo Frame is ideal. Tiny and surprisingly strong magnets hold together two pieces of heavy, crystal-clear acrylic, creating a freestanding and easy-to-update display. this Muji frame has a pleasingly small footprint, and it’s a great showcase for photos, notes, or keepsakes. The frame comes in four sizes; the medium version readily accommodates a 3-by-5-inch photo.

A smart mug

The Ember Mug 2 filled with tea.

Ember Mug 2

The heat source is built into the base of this somewhat pricey mug, so it stays warm even when you’re on the move. And in true tech-era fashion, you can control the temperature via an app.

Sure, your favorite remote employee probably has a microwave nearby, but for a workday beverage that never grows cold, Wirecutter’s top-pick mug warmer , the Ember Mug 2 , makes a luxurious gift. Unlike other warmers we tested, the Ember model has its battery-powered heat source built into the base, so your gift recipient can easily take their mug from desk to couch to bed. Even better, using a smartphone app, they can adjust the temperature for the perfect sip, from a toasty 145 °F dark roast to a gentler 120 °F cup of green tea.

A day drink

home working gifts uk

Rasāsvāda Rose Bergamot

This bittersweet floral drink is perfect for when you’re in the mood for something delicate yet revitalizing. It sips like an intensely flavored rose tea or a more-floral Lillet Rosé, without the burn.

Though work-from-home etiquette is undoubtedly a little looser than that of the office—we see you, soft-pants nation —drinking on the job remains a hard no. For a libation every bit as nuanced as a cocktail, sans any judgment-altering booze, consider giving your workmate a bottle of bittersweet Rasāsvāda Rose Bergamot , one of our favorite nonalcoholic drinks . The rose aroma leads the first sips, but the earthy bergamot and herbaceous lemongrass cut through for a complicated and satisfying finish. We like it poured over ice mixed with equal parts sparkling water—it’s also a great follow-up gift for a seltzer-loving, soda-making pal .

A sweet stapler

home working gifts uk

Ellepi Klizia 97 Stapler

Assembled by a small team of craftspeople outside Milan, this sleek, steel stapler features an artful design that resists jamming and sturdily fastens hefty packets.

With its clean lines and lacquered finish, the sleek steel Ellepi Klizia 97 Stapler performs double duty as a powerful office tool and a handsome desk accessory. Assembled by a small team of Italian craftspeople, this stapler features an artful design that hasn’t changed since its creation in 1977. Supervising editor Hannah Morrill and editor Jon Chase both use the gray version; Hannah’s is new, whereas Jon inherited his from his grandfather, who purchased it nearly half a century ago. Both report a satisfying, jam-free staple every time, even on packets up to 10 pages deep. One small asterisk: The stapler exclusively uses the brand’s patented, tiny staples , so throw in a few boxes of those—they’re only about $1.50 for a pack of 1,000.

A taskmaster timer

A Zone Denmark Timer placed on top of a kitchen counter next to a loaf of bread.

Zone Denmark Timer

This simple matte analog timer has cool Danish modern lines and can be set for up to an hour at time. It comes in four different colors.

home working gifts uk

Nuoswek Bird Timer

This cute little bird turns as the timer counts down. It comes in several color combinations and can be set for as long as 60 minutes at a time, but be sure to follow the directions, or it won’t ring.

If your favorite remote worker is efficiency oriented, they may already practice the Pomodoro Technique , in which you work for 25 minutes and then take a five-minute break. If you’ve heard your colleague bemoan their struggles with productivity, however, they might appreciate staying on task with the help of a dedicated kitchen timer, just as Pomodoro inventor Francesco Cirillo envisioned. The minimalist on your list will appreciate the sleek, monochrome design of the Zone Denmark Timer , while the cute little Nuoswek Bird Timer might suit a more whimsical workhorse. Both have an unobtrusive ticking sound and a non-startling alarm, ideal for keen focus.

A sharp headset

The Jabra Evolve 75, a noise-cancelling plus quality microphone combo headset we love for gifting to remote workers.

Jabra Evolve2 65

With a battery that lasts for days, great microphone quality, and large, comfortably padded earcups, this wireless headset has all the features we look for.

A great wireless headset can make endless video meetings and phone calls a little more bearable. The Jabra Evolve2 65 has the best-sounding microphone among the headsets we’ve tested . Its memory-foam ear cushions create a soft seal around the ears that passively blocks background noise and makes the headset pleasant to wear for hours-long stints. Note that the Evolve2 65 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation, which can help block out low-frequency sounds such as the drone of an air conditioner or the whir of a paper shredder. (For that, consider the Jabra Evolve 75 SE instead.) If your gift recipient doesn’t already have a pair of noise-cancelling headphones or a standalone mic , this headset can help them sound better in meetings, hear other parties more clearly on calls, and block out some distracting sounds.

A high-quality webcam

Our pick for best webcam on a budget, the Anker PowerConf C200 2K, shown in front of a light blue background.

Anker PowerConf C200 2K

A great webcam that doesn’t cost a lot, this model is small and solidly built, and it delivers respectable footage without any fuss.

If your gift recipient owns—or plans to buy—a top-of-the-line laptop, they can expect the built-in camera to be more than good enough for everyday Zoom calls. But if they need to be as clear and professional-looking as possible (maybe they appear on TV or have hit the big time on Instagram), the best way to accomplish that is with an excellent webcam , which can provide infinitely better clarity and color quality than a built-in model can. The Anker PowerConf C200 2K , our budget pick, is easy to set up and provides 2K resolution, which translates into crystal-clear video.

Mood-boosting plant friends

home working gifts uk

Rooted Assorted Bundles

These small yet vigorous houseplants arrive in pleasing themed bundles, offering a simple and affordable way to expand someone’s plant family.

A houseplant can instantly transform a workspace. And having one nearby can potentially boost productivity by 15% , according to a UK study. Any of the themed Rooted Assorted Bundles —pet friendly, desert, ferns, jungle, and more—can add a little life to a stale work area, offering three or four healthy plants with the same care needs. For recommendations, take Rooted’s simple plant quiz with your giftee in mind. The plants arrive in plastic pots, so you might consider adding some terra cotta pots to your gift.

A beautiful mug

Hasami Porcelain Mugs can be gifted singly, as shown on the right, or as a stackable set, as shown on the left.

Hasami Porcelain Mug

This stoneware cup hides its microwave- and dishwasher-safe functionality behind cool, modern good looks.

Made by hand in Japan and designed to last a lifetime, Hasami Porcelain Mugs are a favorite among our staff . Wirecutter’s Eleanor Ford said this mug is “mostly just a lovely work companion with a perfectly simple character.” Each one is a unique work of art that your gift recipient can appreciate daily. The Hasami mugs are stackable and microwave safe, and you can match them with a plate , which might act as a coaster or a lid to keep beverages warm.

A permanent scratch pad

The Quartet Glass Desktop Dry-Erase Easel.

Quartet Glass Desktop Dry-Erase Easel

This letter-size, glass dry-erase board resists staining and eliminates desktop paper clutter.

During the course of the workday, many remote workers need to jot down notes that they’ll refer to only once—things like conference-call numbers and takeout orders. Instead of wasting paper and having sticky notes all over their desk, your gift recipient could have a lovely dry-erase clipboard to house all of that info and keep their desk neat. We’ve found using the Quartet Glass Desktop Dry-Erase Easel to be almost zen-like, as it allows us to purge random notes and have a clean slate at the start of each day.

A work-anywhere lap desk

The LapGear Designer Lap Desk resting across a person's lap, with a laptop computer, phone, and post-it notes on top.

LapGear Designer Lap Desk

Available in a variety of prints, this lap desk is the total package, offering style, comfort, stability, and build quality. Plus, it includes extra storage options.

Even if your giftee has a desk at home, occasionally they may want to move to the couch, the porch, the deck, or even the bed. A great lap desk makes that possible, and the LapGear Designer Lap Desk is the best one for most people: It’s the total package in terms of style, comfort, stability, and build quality. It’s like giving your remote-worker friend the gift of unlimited portability.

A white noise machine

The LectroFan EVO white noise machine.

LectroFan EVO

This soothing white noise machine masked a wider variety of noises than the other machines we tested in its price range. Its electronically generated noise options are available in a range of frequencies, including white, pink, brown, and fan sounds.

When you are home all day, you start to notice all the sounds outside your window, from the hammering of neighborhood home repairs to the rumble of cars and buses passing by. Help your work-from-home friend block out that noise with the LectroFan EVO , our favorite white noise machine . It isn’t just for sleep: On a desk, it takes up little space yet is powerful enough to mask even screeching cat noises. Many people even find that white noise helps them relax and focus better .

Sumptuous snacks

The Zingerman's gift box, with its contents displayed inside. The box has fun cartoons about the company on it.

Zingerman’s The Weekender Gift Box

This ample gift box provides both sweet and salty sustenance, such as a nut-free chocolate brownie, potato chips, and more.

Even if your gift recipient works 5 feet from their fridge, creating meals and maintaining energy throughout the day can be a challenge. One of our favorite gift baskets , Zingerman’s The Weekender , is ideal for the person who needs something to nosh on but has no snacks in the pantry (a common remote-work crisis). Zingerman’s signature gift box contains a mix of savory snacks and sweet treats: a loaf of artisan bread, a nut-free chocolate brownie, a walnut-studded brownie, peanut brittle, beef sticks, potato chips, and a sour-cream coffee cake.

A classic desk lamp

The IKEA Forså, our pick for best desk lamp that is affordable, simple-to-use and stylish.

IKEA Forså Work Lamp With LED Bulb

This uncomplicated desk lamp uses LED bulbs instead of built-in LEDs, and it’s the most flexible model for positioning light just where you want it.

The iconic IKEA Forså desk lamp is one of the most adjustable models (and the most affordable model) we recommend in our guide to desk lamps . It has three lamp-arm hinges, a tall spring-loaded arm that rotates 180 degrees, and a head that rotates 360 degrees, so you can aim the light anywhere. The base is heavy and sturdy, and a simple on/off switch resides on the cord. It comes in shiny nickel, beige, and a muted turquoise, and it has a utilitarian ’60s vibe that makes it way more stylish than its price indicates.

A place for everything

MobileVision File Folder Organizer With Bamboo Drawer

Hide clutter with this bamboo file organization set. It has multiple file slots to fit a whole ream of paper, plus a drawer for items such as notepads, earbuds, or staplers.

Most people who work from home could benefit from a compact system to keep their projects in order. The MobileVision File Folder Organizer With Bamboo Drawer will help keep a desk tidy. You also have several variations to choose from to create a DIY organization system , including pen holders and stacked drawers. (This set blends in perfectly with our bamboo standing-desk picks , too.)

Simple wireless charger

Belkin’s Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad with MagSafe Special Edition charging an iPhone while standing

Belkin Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad with MagSafe

You get the fastest wireless charging with this portable charger, along with easy magnetic alignment. However, it’s best suited for iPhone 12 or later models.

Some tech accessories seem extraneous or unnecessary—until you actually try them. This unassuming wireless charger is one such item; it can save any lucky owner from the surprise of standing up from their desk at day’s end only to find their phone totally dead. The Belkin Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad with MagSafe was the fastest Qi charger we tested, and its small but mighty built-in kickstand props up the phone in portrait orientation while charging. The only downside of this elegant model is that it doesn’t come with the required 20 W USB-C wall adapter; simply include one in your gift if you suspect that your giftee doesn’t have a spare.

An elegant pen

The classic cartridge Caran d’Ache 849 Brut Rosé pen, against an aqua background.

Caran d’Ache 849 Brut Rosé

This classic cartridge pen from 1969 offers a comfortable hexagonal grip, has a smooth writing tip, and is beautiful to behold.

Little luxuries can go a long way toward lifting someone’s mood and making them feel special—even when they use those items every day in the same room (or corner of a room) while working from home. Consider the humble pen . The Caran d’Ache 849 Brut Rosé ballpoint pen has a rose-gold finish (made from 1 to 2 microns of real gold) and is a pleasure to write with. As one of our staffers eloquently stated: “It’s like butter skimming over a hot pan.”

An infinitely customizable planner

A brown suede Traveler’s Company Traveler’s Notebook standing up on its end, next to a pen.

Traveler’s Company Traveler’s Notebook

With this versatile planner, you get a cross between a simple calendar and a beautiful journal. Your gift recipient will love that they can fill the pages with a wide range of inserts for any type of planning.

The Traveler’s Notebook is the most versatile paper planner/notebook/calendar under the sun, and it’s one of the most impressive options we found in our research. Various inserts and accessories are available for this handmade leather folio, so your gift recipient can customize it to suit how they work. It’s slim enough to fit on cramped desks, too. It functions equally well as a spot for to-do lists, a travel journal, or a planner.

A special notebook

The Leuchtturm1917 Hardcover Notebook open next to a pen.

Leuchtturm1917 Hardcover Notebook Classic (A5)

Though this notebook is simple and minimalistic on the outside, its contents make it special. Its page numbers, index pages, two ribbon bookmarks, and sticker labels will make your gift recipient feel extra organized.

For many people, a notebook is an everyday item. But a notebook can also be a special possession —something to savor writing in. The Leuchtturm1917 Hardcover Notebook Classic (A5) is just that, thanks to its cream-colored, high-quality paper (which accepts all sorts of ink) and its sturdy cover, which will protect the writing within for years. Details that you don’t often see in other notebooks—such as printed page numbers, two ribbon markers, and archival stickers—make it easier to stay organized.

A personalized desk calendar

The Artifact Uprising Brass Easel & Calendar.

Artifact Uprising Brass Easel & Calendar

The thick cardstock pages of this elegant desk calendar feature one photo each and rest on a minimalist brass easel.

The elegant Artifact Uprising Brass Easel & Calendar elevates the sometimes cheesy personalized photo gift. Each 5-by-7 page features one borderless photo printed with a simple display of the month. The thick cardstock pages rest on a solid gold or black brass easel frame. Artifact Uprising gives you fewer options than some other photo sites, but in this case that’s a good thing: The resulting calendar is beautiful, simple, and easy to assemble.

home working gifts uk

L.L.Bean Men’s Scotch Plaid Flannel Sleep Pants

Lightweight and warm, these soft flannel pants are perfect for a comfy night’s sleep or a day at the desk. They’re also available in four different inseam lengths.

If your gift recipient aspires to live in their PJs, fluffy flannel pajamas will keep them warm and cozy all day long. L.L.Bean’s Women’s Scotch Plaid Flannel Pajamas and Men’s Scotch Plaid Flannel Sleep Pants are the softest, best-constructed flannels we’ve tested . They come in classic plaid prints and a wide range of sizes for whoever is on your list. Best of all, they’re especially durable: Even after regularly using them for a year, our testers reported only minor pilling. So your gift recipient will enjoy looking as polished and kempt as one can while wearing pajamas in the daytime.

Comfy support for their feet

A black office chair next to a ErgoFoam Adjustable Foot Rest, one of our picks for best gifts for people who work from home.

ErgoFoam Adjustable Foot Rest

This memory-foam foot rest makes working at home more comfortable and ergonomic, thanks to its velvety-soft cover and support.

If you’re seeking an unexpected and thoughtful gift that shows you understand how uncomfortable it is to work for hours at a desk, consider a comfortable footrest . This will help your work-from-home friend sit in a more ergonomically correct position if their desk is too high: Most desks are 29 to 30 inches high, which is a good fit for those who are about 5-foot-10 or taller but not ideal for shorter folks. The ErgoFoam Adjustable Foot Rest has a plushy surface that feels good to sink your feet into all day long.

Daytime disco ball

The Kikkerland Solar-Powered Rainbow Maker in a sunny window, showing cheerful multicolored gears and a large hanging prism.

Kikkerland Solar-Powered Rainbow Maker

Suction-cup this simple little machine to a sunny window, and the mini solar panel spins the crystal, sending twinkling rainbows throughout the room.

Whether your friend works in a tiny apartment or a palatial suburban manse, their space can always use just a touch more color and magic. Enter the charming Kikkerland Solar-Powered Rainbow Maker . Once your friend affixes this mechanized prism to their window (via a surprisingly reliable suction cup), the sun warms the solar battery, and the dangling crystal rotates and refracts rays, transforming a ho-hum Tuesday meeting into a low-key light show. Take note: Cats find the dancing rainbows wildly entertaining. But if either your gift recipient or Tiger gets too distracted, your giftee can easily slide the device off the window. To see for yourself what this rainbow maker brings to a space, check out this video .

A sturdy standing mat

A person in sneakers standing on the supportive Ergodriven Topo standing desk mat, placed next to a houseplant.

Ergodriven Topo

Standing is less tedious and achy, thanks to this mat’s varied terrain. It’s also easy to move when you’re switching between standing and sitting.

If your gift recipient works at a standing desk, an anti-fatigue mat like the Ergodriven Topo can support their back and legs against an unforgiving floor, and its varied terrain will keep their tootsies moving (which experts agree is crucial for health). An elevated edge, a divot, and a raised ball in the mat’s center all encourage satisfying foot stretches and curls. After seven years of testing standing mats , we’ve kept the Topo as our top pick because it’s supremely comfortable, durable, and easy to slide into position.

A simple gooseneck kettle

home working gifts uk

Bodum Bistro Gooseneck Electric Water Kettle

This stainless steel electric kettle boils water and nothing more, but it does so reliably. It’s nicely priced, too, and it takes up little space.

The sleek, 34-ounce Bodum Bistro Gooseneck Electric Water Kettle does just one thing: It boils water, with the touch of a single lever. Compared with our favorite gooseneck kettle from our testing , it lacks bells and whistles such as adjustable temperature settings and a keep-warm function, but it also costs much less. It’s a great one-and-done option for a remote worker who needs a quick cup of tea or bowl of ramen, and it’s compact and pleasing enough to sit in plain sight at their workspace.

Flowers by the month

A bouquet of pink, orange, and yellow flowers resting in water in a clear jar.

The Bouqs Company

This flower service delivers the prettiest and longest-lasting arrangements of all the services we tried. Its reliable and intuitive website allows the most customization of price, delivery speed, and aesthetics.

Flowers always make a beautiful gift. And for someone who spends most of their time at home, fresh blooms on a desk can have a particularly significant impact. The Bouqs Company is our favorite online flower service because of its reliably long-lasting, pleasing arrangements. You can choose a one-time delivery or subscribe for weekly, biweekly, or monthly deliveries; you can pause or cancel the subscription at any time. Summer giftees could enjoy peonies, sunflowers, and ranunculus, while those receiving in the winter and fall might get stems of roses, delphinium, or hypericum berries. You can choose from the service’s original, deluxe, or grand (small, medium, or large) bouquets.

A cotton throw

Boll & Branch Cable Knit Throw

Your gift recipient will stay warm in this breathable, organic cotton throw that’s appropriate for all seasons. The cable knit hugs the body, and it’s soft and smooth.

Even when you can control the thermostat, sometimes a space just gets chilly (or you’re sharing it with someone who has different temperature preferences). A throw blanket draped on the back of an office chair can be even more practical than a sweater. Your gift recipient can cloak their shoulders on winter days or enjoy a lap blanket if the AC is set too low. One of our favorites is Boll & Branch’s Cable Knit Throw , which is knit from a thick but breathable organic cotton and comes in tranquil shades such as gray, navy, and light blue.

We love finding gifts that are unusual, thoughtful, and well vetted. See even more gift ideas we recommend .

Best Work From Home Gift for the Cafe Goer: Mismo Backpack

Would you rather work from a cafe than at home? Then this remote worker gift will certainly come in handy. This backpack is any remote worker’s dream. It includes a 15″ padded laptop compartment, external pockets, and thoughtfully integrated D-rings for an easy closure no matter how stuffed the bag is. Whether you’re hitting client meetings or visiting the office after months away, you can bet this backpack will be in tow.

What to Look For When Buying The Best Work From Home Gifts

What they like.

First, consider what they like. Are they into tech? Super organized spaces? Funky devices or trying new trends? All of this will guide you toward what kind of gift to look for. The goal is something that will resonate with them rather than getting swept into the junk drawer.

What They Need

It’s equally important to think about what they need. Do they need help staying organized? Do they need to drown out surrounding noise? Is their workspace super uncomfortable? Consider what they would truly benefit from. It’s all about choosing a gift they actually need. If you keep this in mind, they’ll wind up with a stellar addition to their home workspace.

Their Line of Work

Finally, it pays to keep in mind their line of work. People who have to keep up Zoom appearances will likely want a different type of gift than your friend who exclusively works from the couch. If they’re in the more professional realm of remote work, choosing a gift that amplifies this is a winner. But if you’re shopping for someone who keeps it cozy, you can probably skip the standing desk.

If you’re wondering what you should get someone who works from home, consider options like a standing desk converter, laptop stand, smart coffee mug, or a desktop organization device. If the person you’re shopping for prefers a more comfortable work from home environment, they’ll enjoy gifts like slippers, a lap desk, or a foot rest.

The best work from home gifts ultimately depends on who you’re shopping for. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to gifting them a useful addition to their home workspace, rather than something that just creates clutter. Air on the side of practical if you’re not sure, and choose gifts like organizers, a laptop cleaner, or headphones. And if all else fails, there’s always coffee.

The best housewarming gifts are those that cover multiple bases: they’re stylish but also practical, they’re respectfully personal, and they don’t take up too much space.

New homemakers will be walking over mountains of boxes for months, so you don’t want to burden them with anything huge. Whether you choose a nifty gadget for the kitchen , a decorative object for the living room, or a fluffy towel bale for the bathroom, a small but thoughtfully chosen new home gift will be a very welcome addition.

With a wealth of gorgeous homewares and collectibles on offer it’s easy to get carried away and choose something you’d rather see in your own home. But picking out the perfect housewarming gift sometimes involves putting your own eccentric taste to one side and considering the homeowners’ personalities, interior style, and practical needs.

If you’ve visited their previous pad, you’ll know the type of thing they’re into and can have fun choosing. If not, it’s probably best to play it safe and opt for a gift that’s stylish, low-key, and practical: you really can’t go wrong with luxury home fragrance , tea towels , or a set of artisan made coasters.

How we tested.

Having recently moved into our own new abode, we thought about the kind of gifts we really needed on a practical level, but also the decorative ones that would bring us joy. We considered different budgets, making sure that those on the affordable end were sufficiently well made and durable. We also tested out our practical gifts, such as bakeware, tech, kitchen gadgets and towels over a period of time to ensure they stood up to heavy use.

Dominic Bradnum Home Sweet Home limited edition print

best housewarming gifts

  • Best : Overall

While choosing artwork for your home is a subjective pursuit, we couldn’t pass up this Home Sweet Home print. The vibrant giclée print features the simple, welcoming message in retro neon. But if you think your giftee won’t like this exact limited-edition print, or are looking to spend a little less, there are hundreds of prints and paintings to choose from at Art Republic. You can browse through the expertly curated edits, or shop by style, size, or price. And if you really can’t decide what’s best for the new homemakers, or you’d rather they do the choosing, gift cards are available from as little as £25.

Pow Pots gin & tonic midnight and gold, small

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For seasoned plant parents

House plant parents will love you for this stylish pot, part of a huge range of colourful and contemporary planters on offer at Pow Pots. We’ve long been fans of this brand for its handmade and hand-painted fibreclay pieces that prove lightweight, frost proof, and actually much stronger than traditional ceramic or terracotta planters. With its metallic accents, the gin and tonic pot is a sophisticated move away from the brand’s typical contemporary brights, and while it is undoubtedly a stand-out, it’ll pretty much go with any interior scheme, minimalist, maximalist… you can’t go wrong.

Woolroom sofa throw, beige rainbow spot

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For homebodies

What cosy new home is complete without a wool blanket to snuggle up in? Designed specifically as a sofa throw – although it works as a versatile, go anywhere blanket – it features double sided patterning with brighter squares on one side and subtler spots on the other against a warm beige background. Made in Yorkshire using the finest merino lamb’s wool, it feels luxuriously soft and supple. And it proves wonderfully toasty, too, which should stop anyone reaching for the dreaded thermostat too soon this autumn/winter. It’s worth noting though that the luxe organic fibres make this one a strictly dry clean only product.

The Pillow Drop Amalfi cushion

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For adventurers

There’s nothing like a bright statement cushion to add a bit of cheer to a new home. The Pillow Drop offers a range of beautifully bold and graphic needlepoint cushions, including some playful travel-inspired numbers to remind us of our best adventures. The Amalfi cushion features a bright yellow lemon motif against a vibrant green background with the place name in bold red text. The light and bouncy pad is backed with a darker green velvet, which adds a touch of luxury. This one works best when contrasted with a battered vintage leather sofa or club chair.

Polly Fenwick green frame

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For families

The quickest and easiest way to personalise a new space is to fill it with family photos. Your gift recipients will feel right at home with this pretty Polly Fenwick frame, which happens to be brilliantly purse-friendly – although they won’t know it. The handmade bone inlay picture frame features a Moroccan tile inspired pattern, which brings a touch of north African mystique, while the white and emerald-green colourway adds a welcome colour pop, whether the frame is placed centre stage on the mantelpiece, or it’s bringing a dark corner of the room to life on a side table. If you have a small gift budget, this one guarantees a big impact.

Smeg personal blender

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For health freaks

We loved this stylish kitchen top addition that goes some way to make up for the fact that we don’t have an iconic Smeg fridge-freezer in our new home (yet!). As its name suggests, the personal blender is a diminutive number that boasts the brand’s instantly recognisable 1950s aesthetic and comes in a range of chic mono colourways, including the highly covetable pastels. Made for one, it can whip up soups and smoothies in a jiffy and proves reliably durable after multiple uses – as you would expect from a top brand like Smeg. It feels old-school mechanical, rather than cheap and electrical. Best though, is that it comes with a spare bottle, complete with a nifty handled top, that can be taken on the daily commute.

Staub Ceramique 2 piece rectangular ovenware set, cherry

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For foodies

Hitting that sweet spot between form and function for a gift is this cute cherry red baking set designed to go straight from the oven to the table. The stackable stoneware dishes are ideal for casual dinner parties and family get-togethers featuring hearty one-pot meals and sides for everyone to tuck into. We loved the retro-feel embossed branded handles, and the shiny glass porcelain finish. On the practical side, these are microwave, freezer, broiler, and oven safe up to 300C, while they also boast scratch resistant properties, ensuring they stay shiny and new after multiple uses. A stylish addition to both the kitchen and the dining room.

E.S. Designs birdie wall hooks, set of 4

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For eccentric homes

If you’re after a housewarming gift that’s out of the ordinary, these quirky bird hooks hit all the right notes. Made from resin, with a burnished gold finish, they are deceptively lightweight. The birds come in assorted poses, meaning you can arrange them in a unique set-up to create sculptural interest in the hallway, on the back of the door, in the bathroom… anything goes. They’re easily attached with a discreet screw at the back – this bit sits flush to the wall. As practical hooks, they won’t take a huge amount of weight and are best reserved for hats, dog leads or similarly smaller accessories. But you wouldn’t want to ruin the aesthetic by covering them with bulky coats anyway.

Jonathan Adler vice love candle

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For romantics

Luxury home fragrance is always a great choice as a housewarming gift but if you want something a little more characterful, there’s plenty of inspiration at high-end homeware site, Arighi Bianchi. Anyone familiar with Jonathan Adler will recognise the designer’s playful take on luxury with this lidded ceramic candle in red and white circus-like stripes. Part of a covetable collection including lust and envy candles, the love number proves a brilliantly quirky addition. Scent-wise, it features grapefruit piquant, virgin mint, freesia, marine accord, watery cyclamen and iris. It gives off a potent sweet but tart scent, which fills the room in no time. Of course, your recipients will be left with a stylish lidded receptacle once the candle runs down, making this a gift that keeps on giving.

VonChef Swiss fondue set

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For housemates

This is another brilliantly affordable gift that guarantees to bring a smile to your recipients face, plus, it’s practical, too. The portable fondue set doesn’t take up too much storage space in the kitchen with its small cast iron pot, stand and accessories, yet it’s ideal for intimate gatherings. It comes complete with six colour coded forks – handy for knowing whose is whose once you’ve lost count of your schnapps intake – while the user-friendly and adjustable burner (use methylated spirits or solid fondue gel), heats up the contents of the pan quickly and evenly. So whether you’re planning on going traditionally Swiss with cheese and bread, or you’re dipping marshmallows and strawberries into melted chocolate, this will be a gift everyone can enjoy.

Beards & Daisies new home bundle

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For new plant parents

With the best will in the world, plants invariably suffer during hectic house moves, which is why we’ve chosen this six-plant bundle specifically designed to welcome residents into their new pad. The plants included are a fiddle leaf fig, a prayer plant, snake plant, calathea, a Boston fern, and a fishbone cactus, giving you a variety of textures, colours, leaf patterns, and of course heights. Arriving carefully packaged and with pots included (some of which are ceramic), all you need to do is give them a water and they’re good to go. Of course, a bundle like this does prove expensive but at Beards & Daisies, you can order individual houseplants from just £10.

Next claro set of 4 wine glasses

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For party people

Some decent glassware might come in handy at the housewarming party, and this set boasts four distinct colours: blue, green, aubergine, and an amber-like yellow, to give you a casual mix and match feel that’s equally at home in the dining room as it is at the al fresco summer table. At just £18, the glasses may be enticingly affordable, but they are surprisingly heavyweight and satisfyingly chunky, too (read: less likely to smash). Each piece features attractive, embossed decorative detailing, not only on the bowl but on the foot and stem of the glass, too, giving it a quirky goblet-like feel.

Furn set of 4 kindred towels

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For art lovers

Ideal for newly moved in couples, this small bale comprises two bath towels and two hand towels. Featuring a busy pattern of figurative line drawings, the towels bring a chic, contemporary edge to the bathroom – and are a no-brainer as a gift for art loving friends and family. The kindred towels are available in a choice of three colourways; blush, grey, or the vibrant, earthy pecan, which we found really looks the part in a bathroom filled with trailing houseplants. Whichever colour you choose the towels are reversible, with the pattern mirrored in the opposing colours on the underside. They also prove incredibly soft and fluffy.

OYOY Living Design large toppu tray

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For tablescapers

You can’t go wrong with a bold, contemporary stripe, whether that’s in soft furnishings or indeed ceramics. We love this elevated tray from Oyoy Living Design for its playful form and its soft caramel and rose colourway. The 100 per cent stoneware dish is a versatile number that looks the part on the dining room table or kitchen top, whether holding fruit, or your best multi-layered cake creation. The striped exterior boasts an artisanal chalky matte paint finish, while the rose interior is satisfyingly smooth. For those that love to tablescape, this one brings height, and a craft-driven aesthetic.

Bang & Olufsen Beosound explore speaker

best housewarming gifts uk

  • Best : For garden entertainers

Music lovers will appreciate this nifty Bluetooth speaker that is impressively waterproof, and highly durable, making it an ideal buy for those who like to eat al fresco and keep the barbecue going, even when the odd shower threatens to ruin proceedings. Looking not unlike a tin can, the speaker features ergonomic shaping and is designed to be taken wherever you go – it even comes with a handy clip.

Indoors, it’s suitable for a room size of up to 30sqm, meaning it’ll give your homemakers far-reaching, top-quality sound, no matter how open-plan their new pad is. And they can even take it into the shower. Choose from five colourways: black anthracite, green, chestnut, navy, and grey mist.

The verdict: Housewarming gifts

We loved Dominic Bradnum’s Home Sweet Home limited edition print from Art Republic. It’s stylish, sassy, and emotive, and proves a great choice for the hallway. Beyond the artwork itself, we enjoyed the process of choosing from this accessible site that will appeal to seasoned art lovers and new collectors alike.

We also loved Beards & Daisies’ new home bundle of houseplants , which brought a mini jungle to our new pad and made us feel immediately at home. On the more affordable side, we were impressed with the claro set of 4 wine glasses from Next , VonChef’s Swiss fondue set , and the Polly Fenwick green frame . All of these gifts offered great bang for our buck.

Best housewarming gift ideas: 50 picks for every budget and new home size

By Alice Barraclough and Lucy Smith

50 Housewarming Gift Ideas for Every Budget in 2023

After spending my 20s renting rooms in random SpareRoom house shares, living with boyfriends and even a stint back at my childhood home with my parents , at the grand old age of 30, I can finally say I’m an official homeowner. And it feels * so * good.

Buying a house is exciting, stressful and completely exhausting. This purchase in particular has not been without its struggles. My partner and I (caveat, this is the 21st century, I cannot afford to buy on my own ) originally put an offer on a completely different property six months ago, and it wasn’t until we moved out of our flat (and put all our life’s belongings into storage) that the house fell through and we had to start our search from scratch – all while living out of a suitcase ; sofa surfing between our parents’ places. Luckily, we're now officially moved in, and I couldn't be happier.

Of course, when a good friend or family member finds a new home to make their safe haven, it’s only right to show some love, excitement and support. We’ve been bombarded with the most thoughtful new home cards and housewarming gifts. But, sometimes, these new home gifts – however considerate – miss the mark ever-so slightly. A beautiful bouquet of freshly picked spring flowers is lovely, of course, but if you haven’t yet unpacked your box of vases , where are you supposed to put them? The kitchen sink? And while a new print or piece of art for your bare walls is kind, if that person doesn’t know what your new house looks like (or your home decor style, for that matter), it could end up going straight back into box labelled ‘storage’.

If you’re looking to purchase the perfect housewarming gift for a loved one who has recently changed address, my best advice is to ask them what they actually need. Perhaps their kettle is 15 years old and they want a sparkly new one to go with their new kitchen. Or, they’re moving into their first-ever home and don’t actually own a hoover, because the flats they’ve been renting for the past decade always had one provided by the landlord? A Dyson might seem like a boring gift, but it’s probably one of the most useful items I’ve been given (thanks, mum!).

If you prefer to send surprise gifts, think back to the last time you visited them at home. If you know their last pad had 50 or so houseplants , please don’t buy them another. While pretty crockery is nice, if it’s a couple moving in together, they may now have double the number of plates and bowls, and simply won’t have storage space for a brand new 16-piece dinner set .

When it comes to the best gifts, consider buying something the recipient wouldn’t usually buy themselves – a luxurious scented candle from Jo Malone , a bottle of wine and carafe, or some fancy hand soap from Aesop for the downstairs loo. If you want to help them put their stamp on the space and buy something specifically for their home – such as a doormat , wine glasses or candlestick holders – remember to really think about their personal style (rather than yours). If they’re going for a minimalist ‘ White Company ’ vibe, then bright, eclectic wall art from Cath Kidson will sadly just end up in the charity shop.

Whether you're looking for housewarming gift ideas for friends who have just moved into a new rental, or best gifts for couples who've managed to edge their baby toe onto the property ladder, a thoughtful housewarming gift will never go unnoticed. So, if you really want to certify your place as favourite housewarming party attendee, read on for the very best housewarming gifts to buy now.

Major campaign to fight fraud launched

Stop! Think Fraud, the National Campaign Against Fraud, launches today.

home working gifts uk

A major campaign to transform the fight against fraudsters launches today (12 February 2024).

Stop! Think Fraud is backed by leading counter fraud experts who are uniting under one voice to provide consistent, clear and robust anti-fraud advice to the public.

Fraud accounts for around 40% of all crime in England and Wales, with an estimated 3.2 million offences each year. The latest data from the Crime Survey of England and Wales shows it has reduced by 13% over the past year. The estimated cost of fraud to society is £6.8 billion in England and Wales.

Fraud has also more than doubled in Scotland over the past 9 years and reports spiked in Northern Ireland during the pandemic, with a decline now being observed.

The evidence led campaign draws on the expertise of leading counter-fraud experts and includes an online fraud hub which will provide concise, simple to follow advice. It will also signpost victims to relevant organisations for further advice and support.

Impactful adverts will also be prominently displayed in public settings, from billboards to radio, and from TV screens to social media. It is anticipated the campaign will be seen by 95% of adults in the UK over the coming weeks.

Stop! Think Fraud 40 second TV advert

Home Secretary James Cleverly said:

Our bold Fraud Strategy is continuing to deliver for the British people. This new campaign is a powerful tool to add to our arsenal, which already includes a world-first agreement from tech firms to prevent online fraud and the rollout of a National Fraud Squad that has 400 expert investigators. I encourage everyone to stop, take a moment to think about fraud, and share this messaging far and wide.

Security Minister Tom Tugendhat said:

Fraud ruins lives. Following this advice will give people the best tips to stop fraudsters from stealing their hard-earned cash, and point them towards all the help and information on offer. Our Fraud Strategy is successfully turning the tide against fraudsters. This new campaign will share the details we all need to defend ourselves and our friends.

Stop! Think Fraud is a ground-breaking step forward against the most prolific crime type in the UK and delivers on the Fraud Strategy’s commitment to release a public awareness campaign.

It has been created to empower a mass audience, with a new website providing vital guidance on how to spot fraud, stay safe and what to do if targeted. The web address will be www.gov.uk/stopthinkfraud .

The campaign has far reaching support among the tech, financial and retail sectors, as well as law enforcement, victim care agencies and consumer groups. Supporting agencies have pledged to prominently display the Stop! Think Fraud advice and share it among their stakeholders.

They will also update pre-existing fraud advice they have shared in public places and replace it with the Stop! Think Fraud messaging and branding.

This one clear set of advice will remove confusion, which was a risk with so many different campaigns previously existing in the same space.

Temporary Commissioner Pete O’Doherty, from the City of London Police, said:

As the national lead force for fraud we wholeheartedly support Stop! Think Fraud and hope it will raise a much greater understanding of what fraud is and how to avoid it. Fraud accounts for around 40% of all crime in the UK, so it’s vitally important to reach all corners of the country with this campaign to help protect everyone from the devastating financial and emotional impacts of fraud. Alongside this campaign, we will continue to deliver on the National Fraud Strategy set by government and launch the replacement service for Action Fraud later this year.

Nick Sharp, Deputy Director for Fraud at the National Crime Agency, said:

Fraud is the most prevalent crime in the UK, impacting on millions of victims both financially and emotionally. It is a priority for the National Crime Agency to reduce the harm that fraud causes – and the NCA has been working closely across a range of sectors to ensure that messages that help empower people to protect themselves are based on the collective knowledge of the law enforcement community. The Stop! Think Fraud campaign is a major milestone that will build awareness of how to be better protected from becoming a victim, and how best to prevent and report fraud.

Felicity Oswald, Chief Operating Officer of the National Cyber Security Centre, said:

Prioritising basic security measures, such as enabling 2-step verification for your primary email account, is crucial to protect you against online fraud and increasingly sophisticated scams. Following the advice from Stop! Think Fraud will help significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim of fraudsters.

The launch of Stop! Think Fraud is a significant milestone in the Home Office’s delivery of the Fraud Strategy , published in May 2023.

Key strategy pledges already fulfilled include the agreement of the world’s first charter to prevent online fraud, the rollout of the National Fraud Squad and the appointment of a government anti-fraud champion, a post occupied by Simon Fell MP.

Another strategy commitment will be delivered next month, when the Home Secretary welcomes interior ministers from international partners to London for the first ever Global Fraud Summit.

Representatives from Interpol, the EU Commission and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime will also be present, alongside some of the biggest companies and consumer groups in the world.

Wayne Stevens, National Fraud Lead at the charity Victim Support, said:

Fraud is a devastating crime. It’s essential that the public have access to reliable and up-to-date information about how to protect themselves – we’d urge everyone to take a look at this new guidance. Sadly, there is still a lot of shame and stigma around fraud. For those who are targeted this stigma makes the experience even worse and often stops them seeking help. We want everyone to understand that, if you are the victim of a fraud, it’s never your fault. We are available 24/7 to provide you with independent, free support.

Marc Allera, CEO, BT Group’s Consumer Division said:

As an industry, network operators have a responsibility to our customers to do all we can to help them spot and stop scams. So we’re fully behind the UK Government’s new National Campaign Against Fraud. We’re constantly investing and deploying new technologies to prevent fraud taking place across the UK’s telecommunications infrastructure – and we know that partnerships across government, industry and law enforcement are critical to fully tackle the issue.   This campaign is a great example of that collaboration in action, and provides clear and simple guidance everyone can follow to help protect themselves from fraud.

Matt Hepburn, Fraud Spokesperson at TSB, said:

Fraudsters continue to bombard the public with fake texts, calls and scam content online – so it’s vital that we all remain alert to the threat. The Home Office campaign is a powerful way of reminding millions of consumers to be wary of scams that reach us online, via social media, or through our phones.

The Home Office is working with the following stakeholders on the campaign:

  • British Retail Consortium
  • Citizens Advice
  • City of London Police
  • Department for Science, Innovation and Technology
  • Financial Conduct Authority
  • Match Group (the parent company of Tinder, Hinge, Match, Ourtime, Even, Plenty of Fish)
  • Media Smart (a subsidiary company of the Advertising Association)
  • National Crime Agency
  • National Trading Standards
  • National Cyber Security Centre
  • The Pensions Regulator
  • Stop Scams UK
  • Telecommunications UK Forum
  • Victim Support

Tooth fairy gifts children $100 bills and designer jewellery

Not only has the amount of money children receive for losing a tooth increased, but some parents are also leaving a gift under the pillow.

Some children receive $100 bills and designer jewellery under their pillows as the tooth fairy has become more generous worldwide.

The US national average for a tooth fairy gift has risen from under $2 in 2001 to more than $6 in 2023, according to polling by Delta Dental, but some parents have revealed to The Wall Street Journal that they give even more extravagant gifts to their children.

Mark Burhenne, a former dentist who runs the AsktheDentist.com website, said that some children receive "cash, a video game, sometimes an iPhone" which he puts down to parents competing with each other.

Chidera Nig, who is from the UK, gave her daughter £60, a letter, a silver fairy necklace and a Louis Vuitton bracelet.

Ms Nig's husband bought the designer piece when their daughter was born, and she said it felt like the correct time to gift it.

"That was her first baby tooth that she lost, and the process was uncomfortable for her, so we decided to give her the extra tooth fairy experience," Ms Nig told the US publication.

"Childhood goes by so fast and we believe in cherishing every moment, celebrating milestones and creating long-lasting memories."

But generous gifts from the tooth fairy can lead to children comparing what they found under their pillows.

Natasha Evans from Cheshire said she gave her daughter three one-pound coins and two chocolate coins to share with her sister when she lost her first tooth.

But when daughter Rae told her classmates about her gifts, Ms Evans said: "I didn't think about how that would unfold.

"The others were like, hang on - the tooth fairy didn't bring us chocolate coins!"

Ms Evans told the children the tooth fairy doesn't normally do that and said she plans to stick to giving money going forward.

But it's not just the tooth fairy who has been hit by this kind of inflation - parents are celebrating more minor milestones in this way.

Global searches on Pinterest were up 100% for "potty-training rewards ideas", 90% for "end-of-year school party ideas" and 40% for "my first tooth party" between September 2021 and August 2023, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Pelly Avenue, Witham

An 18-year-old has been charged over an incident that saw a man robbed in the street by armed men, who then burgled his home.

Essex Police said the victim was approached from behind in Pelly Avenue, Witham, at 18:30 GMT on 3 January and ordered to hand over his possessions.

He gave the men his mobile phone but was then taken home under duress.

The teenager, from Westcliff, was charged with robbery and aggravated burglary.

He appeared before magistrates in Chelmsford on Thursday and is due at the crown court in March, police said.
