The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean start-up template can be used as aid for developing a new, or analyzing and mapping an existing business model of a company. It is a visual chart with elements describing a firm or product's value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances. It assists firms in aligning their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs. It gives a graphic representation of a number of variables that show the values of the organisation. A business model is a description of how your business intends to operate and make money. Sounds simple, RIGHT?

This study develops further one of the most popular business model frameworks, the business model canvas, into a Service Logic Business Model Canvas to better take into account service logic principles. Here, the term “service logic” covers the basic principles of the contemporary business logics: service-dominant logic (SDL), service logic, and customer-dominant logic (CDL). The knowledge gap that the present study aims to fulfil is twofold. Firstly, the literature on service logic includes little knowledge on how to apply this thinking on the practical business level. Secondly, the business model literature offers very little knowledge on how to make business models to follow the service logic. By using the interactive research and constructive approach, this study develops a tool for designing service that takes into account multiple stakeholder perspectives. This tool, the Service Logic Business Model Canvas, includes both the provider’s viewpoint (value capture) and the customer’s viewpoint (value creation). Based on an empirical study, this tool seems to be relevant and simple to use, and when integrated into a service design process, it may help companies to implement the service logic.

The objective of this study is to highlight the importance of the use of BMC to the entrepreneurs and the academic world. In pursuing this objective, the authors want to discuss the BMC problems and criticism and show its variations in order to help entrepreneurs use these models in the right way ‚and successfully plan their businesses. The shortcomings and weaknesses of the model will then be compared with experiences made in the class 'Entrepreneurship II' offered in a undergrad course of Business at a Brazilian university in the state of São Paulo. The experience with them highlighted the importance of the use of BMC and it was helpful in developing their business plans. The contribution of this study to the body of knowledge is to fill the vacuum that exists in terms of academic study concerning the use of Business Model Canvas by the entrepreneurs when developing their business plan as well as to advance research in the areas of small and medium enterprises.

The business model (BM) concept which has emerged in the scientific literature and business world over the past fifteen years is a new management concept that, although characterised by fuzzy boundaries, can be synthesized as " the rationale of how an organisation creates, delivers and captures value ". Many authors see the BM as an excellent tool for the strategic evaluation of business ideas, but the literature review shows a lack of efficient quali-quantitative tools for evaluating potential BM alternatives and selecting the best BM solution from among them. In this paper, we propose a Business Model Decision Support Tool (BM-DST) based on a quali-quantitative methodology of Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) called Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and specifically based on a modified AHP procedure called Value-Analytic Hierarchy Process (V-AHP). A case study with a numerical example was carried out in the field of industrial plants, specifically in the context of the Industrial Product-Service Systems, in order to select the best BM solution from among three potential BM alternatives usually taken into account by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) company: Transactional Project Deliveries, Project Led Solutions and Life-Cycle Solutions.
