The sample academic plans of study below have been created by the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program faculty and are constructed with prerequisites and co-requisites in mind. You will work with your Success Coach on a personalized academic plan that works for you.

  • These sample plans offer suggested sequences, depending on one’s desired pace, and are intended to assist students in developing their own academic plans.
  • These plans reflect the program coursework only, and do not necessarily reflect any general education requirements, electives, or certificate courses a student may choose to add.

How to use this page:

  • Select your desired academic plan (note: you may scroll horizontally to see more options depending on the size of your screen)
  • Review the recommended courses, and the total credits, for each of the numbered subscription periods.

How much time will it take me to complete my coursework?

One credit hour is equivalent to 42-45 hours of work. This is about 3-4 hours per week for a 12 week subscription period. The amount of work required for a credit hour is federally defined. Your courses will all have suggested pacing plans so you can see how the faculty recommend pacing individual courses.

So for example, if you think you could commit to, say, 20 hours a week (which is less than 3 hours a day), you can reasonably expect to finish 6 credit hours in a subscription period.  As a competency-based program , there may be some courses you can move faster through, and other courses that take you longer, but on average you can expect that your coursework will typically land in that standard range. Use our time management calculator to help determine the time you have in your schedule for schoolwork.

How long might it take me to finish my degree?

There are two factors here: Once you determine how much time you have available in your schedule, and consider your experience level in a course’s subject area , you will have a pretty good sense of how many credits you can complete in a subscription period. Then, when you review your transfer credit report with your Success Coach, you will also know how many total credits you need to finish your degree. Dividing your total number of credits needed by your expected ‘credits per subscription period’ will give you an estimate of how many subscription periods you need to graduate.

The UW Flexible Option is flexible, but it also is affordable. For example, if you choose to finish your degree with the 8 subscription period sample plan, your total cost will be $18,000. The national average tuition for that same two year period of time is $32,636**. You can earn your degree for considerably less total tuition than the average student nationwide will pay.

Let’s look at an example. Laura has 65 credits to complete the degree after reviewing her credit evaluation. She has determined that she has time for, on average, about 6 credits per subscription period based on her schedule and experience. That means, to finish her degree she’ll need approximately 10 subscription periods. Laura then multiplies that number by our flat rate tuition to arrive at her total cost to her degree. And remember, with the Flex Tuition Guarantee, your tuition will not increase once you start , making it easier to plan for the future.

6 Subscription Periods

8 subscription periods, 9 subscription periods, 10 subscription periods, 11 subscription periods, 12 subscription periods.

*The 6 subscription period plan assumes a student has some transfer credit applied in their business major coursework in the following areas: Microeconomics (BAEF 100x &101x); Macroeconomics (BAEF 110x & 111x); Financial Accounting (BAEF 200x & 201x); Managerial Accounting (BAEF 210x, 211x, & 212x); Business Algebra (BAMA 100x, 101x, & 102x); and Business Statistics (BAMA 300x & 301x).

**Data from the most recent available National Center for Education Statistics digest . Multiplied the national average annual tuition and fees, $16,318, for two years to produce the equivalent educational cost of two years of study in the UW Flexible Option.

Note, some courses have a prerequisite. A prerequisite is a course that a student must master before enrolling in the more advanced course. Students may add an advanced course during the same subscription period for which the prerequisite is being satisfied; however, students will not be or granted permission to register for the advanced course until the prerequisite has been met.
