'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Remnant Data Cores: What we know about the task so far

Some of the toughest items to find in Mass Effect: Andromeda are remnant data cores — which, by the way, are entirely different from the crafting resource "remnant cores." (Shout out to BioWare for making that as confusing as possible.)
There are a total of nine remnant data cores you'll need to find in order to complete the side mission for Peebee (located under your "additional tasks" folder) — and if you're not careful, you might miss one.
Details on every single remnant data core are still sketchy, but here's what we know about their whereabouts so far.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Remnant Data Core locations: What we know so far
From the sound of it, Andromeda update 1.05 fixed a bug that prevented this quest from ever showing up in your "additional tasks" folder in the first place, which was making it tricky for players to pin down definitive information about exactly where these data cores are located.
According to redditor jtzako's post on /r/MassEffect, these cores are hidden within remnant vaults. Some players in that same Reddit thread are reporting that they've completed every remnant vault and still don't have all the data cores — so it seems like an item that you could easily miss if you're not careful about exploring every nook and cranny.
Worse still, if you missed them the first time around, you won't be able to access the vaults again.
"I'm eight of nine," DigitalSignalX wrote. "No idea where to even begin looking for remainder — especially since the vaults are no longer accessible once you complete them."
The good news is that this is simply an "additional task," meaning it's a pretty low-stakes situation if you miss a few and don't end up completing it.
We'll keep an eye out for more information about the specific locations of these data cores and update this article as we learn more.

Mass Effect: Andromeda – How to Find Remnant Cores
Struggling to find the Remnant Cores you need to craft the Heleus Defender armor? Here’s how you can find more of them.
Remnant Cores are a special item that is hidden throughout the various worlds in Mass Effect: Andromeda. While they are required to complete a few tasks throughout the game, their main use is as a crafting item that is required to make an end-game suit of armor called the Heleus Defender set. In this article we’ll teach you some of the best ways to find Remnant Cores in Mass Effect: Andromeda so that you can complete your armor set and show it off to the world.
Unfortunately, there’s no guaranteed way to get a Remnant Core, and you’ll need to search around for these special items if you want to grab them. That being said, though, we’ve listed a few easy ways you can increase your chances of finding this item in the article below.
Kill Architects and Loot their Remains
One of the best sure fire ways to get your hands on a Remnant Core is to locate and kill the four Architects spread throughout the Heleus Cluster. These massive enemies are challenging to take down, and they’re quite hard to locate, but you can find out more about them with our complete guide on how to find all of the Architects . We also have a guide that will help you learn how to kill an Architect , in case you find yourself struggling to take it down.
These items aren’t a guaranteed spawn from Architects, though. Which means you may go through all that trouble and not acquire what you’re looking for. It’s definitely a risk worth taking, as the Architects offer some great incentives and loot if you take them all down.
Search Hidden Caches
Hidden caches are another great way to obtain Remnant Cores, as you’ll usually find around three or more of them in each Hidden Cache that you locate on the surface of Uncharted Worlds. These caches are hard to find, though. Don’t worry too much, as you can unlock a Cryo Pod Reconnaissance perk on the Tempest that will allow you to reveal hidden caches, making finding them a lot easier.
Once you have the perk unlocked, you can easily go around to various planets and explore them for hidden caches, allowing you to stock up on all the Remnant Cores that you need to complete your quest, armor, or whatever.
Now that you know how to get Remnant Cores, be sure to take a look at our guide to the best armor sets in the game. You can also return to our Mass Effect: Andromeda game hub , where we offer even more helpful guides like how to get the best shotgun , and more.

Task: remnant data cores.

Posted on 07 April 17 at 17:23 Hello, After the update this task has appeared, or it is necessary to find nuclei left, the problem is that apparently I had advanced without knowing it because I was 2 out of 9, today I found 1 in the vault of Kadara, only accessible to the end. The thing is, I've been spending hours on the planet without finding anything else. I am not asking for the exact location of the nuclei, but just if they are found on all the planets, and if they are found in specific places. Thank you in advance for your help.

Posted on 08 April 17 at 06:07 Me too after going through kedara vault have found 3rd one and when the task appeared for me. Already completed Eos, Voeld, Havala vaults meaning that I won't be able to get all of them. From what I understand they are all inside vaults.
Posted on 08 April 17 at 10:52 There are also some where the architects are fought, and yes in the vaults. But for me concern the vaults it is also cooked.

Posted on 09 April 17 at 18:31 I think those data boxes that Peebee asks you to find for one of her missions also counts. There's also a side mission on Elaaden or Eos where you have to stop some scavs from messing with them; those may cont as well.

Posted on 09 April 17 at 19:31 I don't think the side missions on Elaaden where you have to deactivate cores at three locations count towards this task. I was 7/9 when I started that side mission and still 7/9 when I completed it.
Posted on 09 April 17 at 20:49 Just thought I'd mention them as I couldn't remember. It may be just that it's bugged. Like for me, I've got bugged quests for that Improved Shield Charger, the kett listening devices, the angaran slaves on Voeld and a couple others. The order got screwed up somehow and now I can't finish them. Those cores may or may not count. *shrug*

Posted on 10 April 17 at 15:51 I hadn't gotten too far into the story before the latest update, so I'd downloaded it before I went into the Eos vault as part of the story. I got the quest tracker after the cutscene where Peebee picks up the unknown object near the start of the vault (the one where she questions whether it's a symbol of importance or something like that). After that cutscene the quest activated and said I had 1/9. So..... I would assume there's at least 1 in each vault. I don't know how it works if you missed one prior to the quest becoming active with the latest patch. The official strategy guide has this quest blank, stating that it hadn't been properly defined at the time of printing, but the accompanying e-guide will be updated as the quest is rolled out. At the time of writing it still hasn't been updated. Hopefully the community can come together for this one. Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas... Whatever!
Posted on 10 April 17 at 20:34 Well I didn't have this task listed until after the 1.05 update. When it turned up in my journal it was already at 6/9. I had already done the vault on Kadara before the update but when I dealt with the architect it was updated to 7/9, so I assume you can get them from vaults and architects (but maybe other places as well?). I still have to complete the vault and architect on Elaaden, which I think makes a total of five vaults and four architects, so exactly enough for the task if you don't miss anything.
Posted on 11 April 17 at 10:20 Think I've seen a few threads on the interwebs also mentioning picking them up from architects, but can't confirm myself. Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas... Whatever!
Posted on 11 April 17 at 20:11 Just defeated the Elaaden architect and I'm now 8/9 (after collecting the architect loot) so I suspect it applies to all architects.

Posted on 13 April 17 at 02:15, Edited on 13 April 17 at 02:59 by Sons O Liberty Completing the mission requires 9 Remnant Data Cores. Data Core locations: Eos Vault (automatically acquired) Eos - Kill the architect. Voeld- doing the subjugation task. It is in the vault at the end of the mission. Voeld Vault Elaaden - Kill the architect. Elaaden - It is in an unmarked remnant 'vault' directly west of the southern Remnant Monolith. Meridian - Secret door opened with a terminal you can get to by climbing up in the room full of angara. Also from the other 2 architects. The Voeld Vault is a little tricky to get. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIqfN2cx9QM https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/63tz3j/mea_spoi...

Posted on 15 April 17 at 04:46 missable remnant data cores seems like bs too me, just my opinion but it sucks for those that choose to play the game as a game and not use walkthroughs to find what the developers choose to be missable. So the money I spent on the game is wasted because I am not going to play through it multiple times just to redo missions where something was missed, especially since you're able to clean up what you missed after completing the game(except those deemed otherwise by the powers to be.

Posted on 15 April 17 at 22:36 Does this affect peebees loyalty mission and therefore affecting the ability to romance her? Since it seems that to me this remnant cores could affect 2 achievemnts? I hope its just a sidequest and nothing more, can someone confirm?

(Be sure to only activate them when they have no 'remnant light' floating next to them you'll see what I mean.) So all whining to an end you may even close the Task:Remnant Data Cores having missed one in a main Vault before! 😁 Even better there seem to be Eleven Ryse82 or so wrote a detailed description, thank you! You only get XP for succeeding btw.! https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/168600-mass-effect-andromeda...

Acquisition [ | ]
These cores may be acquired by defeating Remnant Architects in the wild and interfacing with them, or by discovering them inside vaults .
Remnant Cores can be used in developing the following items:
Armor [ | ]

Amount Required [ | ]
The total amount of remnant core required to develop a single copy of each item/tier that uses this resource is 54 units.
Notes [ | ]
- Take care when spending remnant core to develop items. This resource can't be purchased at a merchant and can only rarely be found during gamplay.

- The Heleus Defender Helmet I , II , III , IV , and V when deconstructed return the incorrect resource type and quantity of Element Zero instead of Remnant Core.
- When deconstructing items that use remnant core during development, only a single item out of twenty total items - Heleus Icon Armor X - will return a single unit (1) of remnant core. The remaining nineteen items using this material WILL NOT return remnant core.
